: add nav with oem screen (2008)
carheadman 01-25-2008, 09:55 PM Hello everybody, i just joined, and lets get this out of the way. I already read the exsiting post about this, but the answere was only a link to wiring/a kit to add a/v inputs, im actually looking for a way to mod or hook up a stock navigation unit to the existing oem info screen in a 2008 armada
thnx everybody so much!!!!
Welcome to the Club!!!!
Sorry, I'm not sure if it can be done or not. Sounds like an expensive experiment waiting to happen.
carheadman 01-25-2008, 10:19 PM thnx for quick reply, do you know by any chance if the screen has an rca input, b/c i did find a universal kit that adds gps, but it requires an rca input
I know for a fact that no Nissan OEM screens of any kind have any RCA connections. :(
carheadman 01-25-2008, 10:38 PM well then this just seems like a big worm hole in the wallet, cuz then it would be requered 2 buy that rca adapter, ontop of a the 600$ universal nav system
thnx 4 ur replies guyz, post if u find out anymore info
I'm thinkin' it would be nice to hack that screen for Nav, movies, and maybe a backup camera. I think companies like NavAndTV2Go are working on something but I don't know what all they have in mind for us.
BlakSpyda 01-25-2008, 11:11 PM Welcome to CA carheadman!
carheadman 01-26-2008, 12:13 PM thnx for the suggestion.
the first thing i thought of when i saw that the screen came standard is "there must be a way to mod it"
ill keep checking those two companies to see if they come out with any stuff

Pops,
My 2008 Le came with a backup camera, so there must be some sort of video in built in...when I install my DVD I will check it out.
carheadman 01-26-2008, 04:17 PM hey thanks alot 08smokele,
i was wondering, when you are installing ur dvd how are you planning on hooking it up without an rca out?
are you gonna use some adapters, ir yes, can you show me which ones
i apreciate ur help guys!!!
DaJokerz 02-04-2008, 12:13 AM I saw this video switch on Ebay that they sell for adding a backup camera to the stock screen. It looks as though the screen uses a VGA type input.
Can this be confirmed ? I just joined the site btw, bought mine about a month ago. SE silver... I just aded a nuvi and 680 above the mirror. nice clean install. It appeared that adding everything seperatly was just going to be a pain in the balls.
Welcome to the Club!!! :hi:
Could you post a link to it?? We'd be curious to know more details and which brand it is.

No rca plug(s). It has a plug with several wires in it. It took so long to take the screen out.
carheadman 02-12-2008, 05:01 PM do you think that maybe its possible to take those wires and turn them into an rca or s-video adapter?(or some other common connector)
KCArmada 03-22-2008, 08:31 PM Any more information on this? I would love to add a backup camera and use the oem info screen on my 08 SE.
Thanks for any input.
DanDan 03-22-2008, 09:13 PM Hopefully I can paste this for you. It is expensive but you can add nav and a reverse camera and it is plug and play. I believe it is $1400 or close to that. If interested just let me know.
