: Coolant Change
Snake Slayer 01-30-2008, 01:46 PM My wife 06 Armada just hit 30K. I usually do all maintence work myself, I have a question as to the type of coolant Nissan uses. In the owners manual it states nissan approved coolant, I would a appreicate suggestions as to what brands/types are approved for use. Also I plan using M-1 75W90 in the rear end (2WD no towing) my understanding is that no limited slip additive is needed ?
TIA
Welcome to the Club!!!! :hi:
The ABLS handles all anti-slipping acting like a Diff Locker so I'm pretty certain that no Limited Slip Additive is needed. As for coolant, I've just been using Prestone for mine. As far as I've ever known, coolant is coolant because radiators are all pretty much the same.
Snake Slayer 01-30-2008, 01:54 PM Thanks for the warm welcome, I have been a lurker for awhile. So any of the green stuff should meet Nissan spec ?

So, how many snakes have you slayed! I have had to slay a few over the years!:D
I'm certain that they're the same but I cannot find documentation to confirm. Here's what the manuals say:
50% Genuine NISSAN Long Life Antifreeze/Coolant or equivalent
50% Demineralized or distilled water

That is the standard formula also!
Well, this confirms that it's good to go!!!

I am a GM guy having owned LS1, LS6 & LS7's all with GM/Dexcool crap I can tell you that the sludge and crap that builds up in radiators using long life coolants is amazing. For a total cost of under $20 to flush and refill its cheap insurance. Just my .02
