Hey Club I changed my oil a couple a days ago (Syn oil) and a yesterday i heard this very light engine knocking you can bearly hear it,now my problem is that checking my all my empty oil bottles i noticed that is not 5w 30w instead is 5w 20w was my mistake for not doble checking the viscosity might that be the cause of the knocking should I change again to 5w30w any advice would be appreciated Thanks.

It is normal. Don't worry about it, I use syntec oil as well, and in these cold days up here in the north, you will hear your valves knock a bit when it starts up. If you want extra protection, use Lucas engine treatment. By far the best investment you can have and add to your engine. They have the syntetic version and regular version.

If it were me, I would change it out for 5w-30.

I agree w/Pops. The Mada is not engineered to run the 20wt oil.

I agree with Bob and Rob (sorry, that's just fun to say :D), I would also change it out.

^^^^I agree with those above^^^^

Change it back to 5W-30 before you have some engine issues (valves, lifters, shaft or pistons).

Another vote for the 5w30 - sucks but less work to change it than have problems.

Just a friendly FYI side note, the Armada engine does not have "lifters" as it is a DOHC design and just has valves and "buckets" directly under the cam lobes.
As for the oil question, 20wt might be a bit on the light side but I am sure you did no harm. I would change it out though fairly soon, certainly before the weather warms up, and just think (rationalize it) of it as a engine "flush".

Thanks for all the inputs you guys and gal are great thanks again!!!
as for the oil I did the change this evening, but this time made sure it was 5w30w. I really feel comfortable knowing that I did the right thing (wallet kinda sore)49.00 twice!!!! but thats ok as long the mada is fine thats all that matters Thanks for the help!!!

Thanks Cillyone! Just thinking of engines in general. Good to know!;)

The guys over at Titan Talk and Club Titan have done extensive testing on different oils, both synthetic and dino and have sent oil samples back to be tested at Blackstone. There is a wealth of info regarding this subject on those sites, just do a search. Many have found that this engine does knock a bit at idle and upon start up with Mobil 1. One thought was that the viscosity of the synthetic was not as "thick" as dino and did not have the ability to "hang" on the cams. Anyway, very interesting reading. Many of the guys on those sites are a bit "anal" about this subject, but the knowledge they have gained benefits us!
