I'm thinking about installing the OEM hitch to my 08 Mada. Should've had it installed when I purchased the thing but I wasn't very smart. How difficult is it to install with hooking up all the proper wiring?

Six bolts and a relay under the hood....

It is really that simple.

The Mada is prewired so all you have to do is route the harness into the hitch. It should be secured up under the rear bumper.

The relay comes with instructions with the exact location. It is just plug and play.

Dont pay someone to do it. It took me 20 min and the dealer wanted 125.00 to install.

Follow speciefied torque.... especially if you are towing something fairly heavy that you like alot...

Thanks for the info Tbird......I didn't think it would be too difficult to do, but I wanted to make sure before I purchased it..........

Yeah, it took me all of a half hour to install the hitch receiver, plug in the wires and the relays!

anyone find a decent price for the factory hitch? I went to my dealer and they want like almost $400 for the part alone. Ebay has some dealers selling for about $230 but shipping is a lot. I've got an 06 and might just go for a U Haul or Hidden Hitch, any input?

I paid about $200 from the dealer and picked it up there!

Yeah $400 is a totalrip off. I just priced one from my dealership that is $225. Check with other dealers in your area they should all be around that $225 price.

If I remember this evening, I'll take pics of the box the relays are to be installed in. There are THREE relays you'll need. The dealer kit is something around $250 (total). I purchased a hitch from a salvaged Armada for $75 (shipped) with harness adapter. The relays totalled somewhere ~$40 from the dealership. Would've got 'em from a salvage yard, but it's HARD to find a vehicle that hasn't been stripped and crushed.

Installation is SIMPLE. Even easier when you have someone holding one end of the hitch while you bolt-on the other end. Used my impact wrench to secure the bolts. My Armada came pre-wired. Was pretty much plug-n-play. But, I've heard others weren't so lucky.

Ended up getting a Reese hitch used for cheap, installed it, now looking at the wiring. What are the exact part numbers for the wiring kit and/or relays I'll need? The hitch I have has a bracket to mount the plug to, I wanted to go OEM but this was a great deal. So I'll need the plug and wiring. New to towing and appreciate the help!

Your vehicle should already be wired, but yu may want to call Courtesy parts at (800) 527-1909 or your local dealer for the part numbers for the three relays and the end of the wiring harness that attaches to the hitch.
