Can NE1 recommend a glass repair/ replacement shop in Austin, TX? Got a rock chip this weekend on the way to Dallas, that QUICKLY spread to about a 15" crack...! Any recommendations/ help is greatly appreciated!
FYI, I have used Binswanger Glass on Burnet, and they did an OK job on our 4Runner... but, we had to go back 4 times to have them re-glue the rearview mirror... and when water gets on the windshield, it develops a gurgling sound from the passenger side A-Pillar when you are driving... But, at least I have never noticed any leaking!

Go through your insurance company! It will cost you less than paying for it yourself.
I had mine replaced for $100 through the insurance company and later had a chip fixed/sealed for free by calling them.

Agree w/ Spyda. Go through your insurance. Cost me $0.00. Ask for the list of glass repair shops that they have. Call the shops and ask them to wave the deductible. My comprehensive deductible was $100.

Thanks for the input guys... I will ask them about waiving my deductible, but, seeing as mine is $250, I am sure they will be a little reluctanct to waive the entire amount.

Your deductible is not the same as the deductible for windshield repair/replacement. Give them a call and see. It may be only $100 also. That's what I paid and my deductible for accidents is $250.

Yeah, it's $250... I already checked. It's $500 for collision.

At the very least your insurance company can recommend a "certified" glass replacement shop.
Your front windshield is actually a part of your cabin structure and if a shop uses cheap glue or silicone then the integrity of the structure is compromised. Thus premature cabin collapse during a roll over. Just my .02
