This time of year EVERYWHERE gets bad with tinting tickets. I'm back to driving my Prelude for awhile now (it's nice enough, and gas is killing me) and it's a COP magnet. My windows on my Armada are just as dark, but because it's an SUV I never get pulled over. Ive gotten stopped 4 times in my Prelude just because of the windows, one time I got weeded out of a line of at least 12 cars. They don't like it because A)It's a Honda, B)It's got tinted windows, and C)It's lowered with 18s on it. Here's a pic of our two cop magnets that they'll find ANY reason to pull us over in

That bites.. I would like for my front door windows to match the rears.. I just think that looks cool on a black vehicle....

Sounds like a reasonable plan! I don't see any way they would be able to argue with that!

Hey my SS is limo tinted all round, the maxima and the old mada was the same, the new mada is the one I decided to go 20% which is the same as the back.

And on a serious note if u match it to the back with 20% I really doubt ull have any issues, but then if u do like lil Heather and my other cars with limo tints, then u might get then filthy dogs on u...lol

I was gonna get my front windows as dark as the rear, but not now. I actually got stopped by a PG County cop Friday night coming from Lowe's. When I get stopped I usually put my windows down so there will be no issues about them not being able to see anyone in the rear or my hands. This guy actually told me to put all my windows up and he stepped back about 15 feet so he could determine if he could still see me.

So there has already been increased scrutiny!

I haven't gotten mine done yet. I live in MD, but still think i'm going with 20% in the near future. If they stop me.. oh well. *shrugs shoulders* It shouldn't be any points, just a fine right?

Spyda... It certainly doesn't help that you're in PG ;)

hey spyda, did he give you a ticket? If not, what tint do you have on the front windows now?
Thanks.

Long Island cops have gotten this way. I had a tough guy shake me down a few months ago with my 15% on my M3 when I happen to be working from home one day.

NYC cops are not as bad that I have seen because they have real crime to fight. It seems in the areas that have the lowest crime these cops have nothing better to do than harrass the very people that are paying their salaries

I know I'm on the other coast, but Travis Air Force Base (CA) is cracking down on people's tint too. I purposely went with a light tint on the front windows to keep popo at bay.

No points, but just a fine. If you get ticketed, before your court date remove it and the fine may be waived.

I did not get a ticket. When I originally had them done, I did it so they would not stop me for it. I got the legal limit in MD. Limo tint from rear passenger area to the back and 35% on the front Driver and Passenger windows

I know PG can be arseholes so I decided to just go legal limit on front (35%)

Down here in Atlanta they will pull you over also for having the front windows too dark. Lucky for me I haven't been pulled over yet I have 5% tint on all of my cars.

Something to keep your eyes on....watch some cop cars (especially the undercover ones) with even darker tint.

That the pot calling the kettle black.

Cops in NYC are arses. they have noting better to do. I get pulled over all the time for 20% tint all around. Even with my FL tags, I still get hassled. I just pay the ticket and on my way. I had one judge tell me, "were'nt you just here last month?" I told him yup. He just sat there and laughed and said, man you must love giving away money, I laughed right back at him, and told him, no it just shows how desperate and low this city is, to get money from the people that live and work here, but then again, what do you expect from people who break the law that they are enforcing, since it was an undercover Crown Vic with limo tints that pulled me over.

Thanks Spyda.

Most of you probably already know this but I just found out today that MPV's (Multi Purpose Vehicle) have different tint laws for the rear of the vehicle than regular cars in some states. I wondered how Spyda could get limo tint in the back of his 'mada when the tint law says 35 all the way around for MD. Most websites I saw just listed cars. Then I went to the VA state police webstie to check out my state and it said in there that MPV's are exempt from the 35% tint for the read sides and rear of the vehicle. So I can put whatever I want in the rear sides and rear of my MPV. MD must have that same law. You should check with the state police in your state to see what your tint law are.

I just ran across this handy-dandy little site for anyone who's looking to know the tint laws of their state.

That was one of the ones I looked at but it did not mention MPV in their website for VA. After looking at that some others, I went to my state police's website to find the truth and there it says the MPV's are exempt for the read sides and rear. That is why you need to check with your state to get the real truth.

LOL!!! Dude, I love how you stick it to the man all the time. :D

What was the judges response to that?
