: 3rd row seat doesn't fold completely flat?

On the 2008 with the power folding 3rd row, it seems like I can't get the seats to fold as flat as they used to in my 2004. Because of that the boards attached to the 2nd row seatbacks to create a level cargo service does not come down all the way, and leaves a 1~2 inch gap between the board and the cargo floor.

I found out part of the reason are the 3rd row all season floormats that are under the 3rd row seats while they are folded flat. Removing them still leaves a 1 inch gap or so between the board and the cargo area.

Do the boards just need to be bent into shape? I don't know because my 2004 was purchased used.

OH!, and while folding the seats sometimes there is a really painfully loud squeaking motor noise. It comes and goes, what can I do?

How is it with all the mats removed?? Grease in joints usually helps anything with squeaks. You can use WD40 to find the source then grease it.

The only thing left under the 3rd row is the standard carpet mats. It seems strange that I need to remove that to get the 3rd row to fold completely flat.

Definitely stacking the all season floor mats on top of the carpet mats was part of the problem originally, but the boards are still not level when the all season floor mats are removed.

Are the Weathertech liners a thinner material than the carpeted floor mats? They definitely look thinner than the all season floor mats. Maybe I'll try those out if the mats under the 3rd row are the problem.

Anybody else with power 3rd row have a similar issue?

That's weird they should reach all the way across. That is what they were designed for. As for the painful loud squeak I would take it back to the dealer and let them fix it under warranty:)

I've noticed on mine (not power, but I assume a similar mechanism) that the seats won't fold flat if the seatbelt buckles aren't tucked into the recesses in the bottom of the seat. Even then, the boards that come down from the back of the 2nd row don't lay totally flat. 04 was like this as well.

My 05 did lay flat, given i always take the head rest of the third row off, not that it really made any difference, but I always did. But i will try my 08 today and see if the power seats don't go down as well as you guys, i'll let you know later on tonight...
