: Exterior size - Armada vs Exp. Tahoe. Seq. Dura.
Peter 03-07-2008, 05:35 PM As i wrote before i am about to by 04 LE from a guy here in Sweden.
I am far away from the seller, and there are no other Armadas around to look at.
-------------
I do like the look of a LARGE suv.
My question is: Would you say the Armada "looks larger" than for example the Exp/Nav, Tahoe, Sequia, Durango?
Or are they similar?
thanks
Peter
The Armada is bigger than all of those, especially the Sequoia (yea, at least we still got something over them :D).
Hmmm, from my observations:
For height: At stock height, our Luggage Rack is even with the rooftop of a Hummer H2. After installing the Mini-Lift with slightly bigger Tires, my rooftop is level with the stock height Hummer H2's rooftop.
For Ground Clearance, we have more than any of them. From ground to lowest spot on the running board. At stock height, ours is about 10". After adding the Mini-Lift, mine is 13" now. My lowest bottom edge of the running boards is now level with the bottom of the Lexus GX470's running board. Running Boards are our low spot, removing them gives about another 2"-4" of ground clearance.
For length, ours is longer than any of those but very close to the Expedition.
For width, our width is about the same as the Tahoe but we have a slightly wider wheel/tire stance.
Peter 03-07-2008, 05:58 PM Thanks for fast reply Pops.
Like you said, i thought it was similar to the Exp.
Driving the Armada is very similar to driving an Expedition except we have Rear Sonar standard instead of optional.

Any problem for me beeing 6´6 to fit?
I know that the wheel is not telescope (english?) which is bad for tall drivers.
Cillyone 03-07-2008, 06:28 PM If you study the most recent releases by the Armadas competitors (Tahoe, Sequoia..etc)they have copied "pushing the wheels to the corners" design". Essentially longer wheelbase/shorter F&R overhangs = more room for the side doors and passenger leg room. This makes it hard to do direct visual comparisons with "old school" type designs.
No problems, you'll fit. :D Stephen (A Titan owner) is over 6' 5 and says he loves the room in his Titan. The Armada is the same as the Titan. You can sign up over there and send him a PM to confirm. There are other tall Titan owners we can ask too if you need more feedback. ;)

You can also send a PM to ask 2Tall. I'm not sure how tall he is but I know he's at least 6' 3 and he's a Titan owner who recently bought an Armada for his wife.

FWIW: My brother is 6' 3 and he loves the room inside my Armada.
masood73 03-07-2008, 10:02 PM My understanding is that Cadillac extended cab is only SUV bigger than Armada (length & width). Of course there is always Ford Excursion
Wizzo 03-07-2008, 10:13 PM Wow.. I didn't realize our rigs where THAT big compared to the comp. Sometimes I look at it and think, "well it's not THAT big", and I look at the comp and think, "now that's big" I had no idea we were bigger. Wooohooo!
Armada Chick 03-07-2008, 10:42 PM As far as your 6'6'' (BTW, wow  ) self fitting...here are the headroom measurements on all the vehicles that have been mentioned (2008 measurements)
Armada has 41.0".
Tahoe has 41.1".
Expedition has 39.6".
Durango has 40.8".
Navigator has 39.5"
Escalade has 40.3"
So, comparing prices, options, etc...I think the Armada would be your best fit :)
As far as exterior height, width, and length:
Armada - Height: 77.8, Width: 78.8, Length: 206.9
Tahoe - Height: 76.9, Width: 79.0, Length: 202.0
Expedition - Height: 77.2, Width: 78.8, Length: 206.5
Durango: - Height: 74.3, Width: 76.0, Length: 200.8
Navigator: Height: 78.3, Width: 78.8, Length: 208.4
Escalade: Height: 74.3, Width: 79.0, Length: 202.5
BoricuaSS 03-07-2008, 10:44 PM Yeah and also the armada is the only truck that no matter how i seat, (since i drive lean back all the way) it still has a bunch of space for the legs of the person behind me.
And dont worry maybe Nissan bring the Extended armada too, to be even bigger...lol Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Interesting because I know for a fact that my folks' '07 Navigator is a bit shorter than my Armada was when it was still at stock height. I also think the Navigator is probably the same length as the Expedition. I'm curious how accurate they were with those numbers.
scotts08LE 03-08-2008, 01:21 AM i wasnt sure of that eitehr, but hell yeah, it is bigger. you can see
where you're parked at the mall from a mile away!

Those numbers I found on a couple sites Pops...but you're right, even being off an inch or so would be wrong! Those were the '08 measurements, at least what the sites say.
It looks like the Navigator they were right on the height at least. They fell a bit short on the width and length though.

But it seems they were a bit too generous on the '08 Armada's dimensions...

Not really because they averaged it. The 77.2 is non-Tow package and 78.0 is w/ Tow Package. So according to these numbers, mine was 78.0 and my folks' Navigator was 78.3. I know these numbers are off because I layed a board across the top of my luggage rack and measured close to 79" before lifting. I know this because I was only 5" short of 7' 0" which is my clearance limit at work and shy'd me away from a 6" lift kit. ;)
Knowing what I know now, I know I can fit a 6" lift kit in at under 7' 0" but I really don't want to suck down 10-mpg's with 35x12.5-18 tires either so I'm stopping with the PRG which lets me get most anywhere I want to be anyway.
Armada Chick 03-08-2008, 12:47 PM That just seems odd to me that Nissan and Lincoln would put wrong numbers on their sites...thats all I was reporting, their claimed dimensions.
Nah, they're not wrong, I am. I don't know why but I love learning stuff like this. I just finished measuring my folks' Navigator and the top of the luggage rack is very close to 79". That Navigator is a taller beast than I thought it was. :D
Armada Chick 03-08-2008, 09:46 PM Lol ok, because I was VERY confused!!!
BostonBob 03-10-2008, 09:52 AM I am blown away that the Armada is as wide as the Expedition. If you look at an Expo driving down the road it looks huge from the rear end. I knew we were longer but looks can be deceiving I guess.

yup, if I recall, the Expys rear lights are narrow which makes the rear hatch look huge, which gives it the appearance of being wider than reality.
