Well guys...today is the day that our store will change hands. For those of you that don't know, Danny and I own and run a convenience store. We decided about 3 months ago, that it just wasn't fitting our lives anymore...we're ready to settle down, get married, and start our family. With myself working 6am-3pm and him working 3pm-11pm, there's not much time to be together. It worked for 3 years, we got the business back on it's feet, but now it's time to say goodbye, after this business has been in his family for the last decade +.

We are opening up another business in the next town over (a deli/pub sort of deal) and that will take 2-3 months to remodel...so we both wont be around very much online :( I promise to pop in and say hello from time to time. I wish you all well, and a "see you later", as this is definitely not a goodbye :)

Wish us luck as we're (hopefully) on our way to bigger and better things!

Not only good luck, but you guys get my prayers and I hope you are blessed with more prosperity then you can imagine!

After you guys get it up and running, make sure you have a big enough parking lot for your CA family. I need someplace else to go visit when I come out to Oregon City!

Eric!!! You never told us you come out to O City!!!! Man....it's mandatory we meet up at least! And I'll definitely have pictures of the new place as we get further and further along with the remodel :)

Thanks to everyone else for the good wishes...it really means a lot guys. Selling our business is pretty scary, but then adding a new one to the mix is a BIG jump for us! PLUS, starting our family is going to be amazing...should be a crazy few years for us, but we're very optimistic :)

Thanks :) That's what we're hoping on, but we'll settle for paying the bills, not that we can't now...but I'd rather have a life and less money than be rich and never see my family or husband!

Thanks Kailo...people tell us that quite a bit, but it's still so scary doing this. This store has been our backbone for years and years. I think with Danny's street and business smarts, and my friendliness and being willing to work my butt off, we'll make it :) Plus we're selling beer and food, and we'll have big plasma screen TVs playing every sports game on...how can that go wrong?! :D

Best wishes and you know we are all in your corner. Take time to document your work via pics and keep us posted. You are living the American dream and hard work always pays off. This forum would not be the same without you so check every week or so. Beer, food , plasma TV, Danny + Armada Chick=success

Good luck! We will miss you here. I think it would be cool to organize a mass Armada gathering at your new place at your Grand Opening. Maybe have a special CA parking lot, all others will be ticketed and towed.

Can you open a second pub in my town in VA?

I'll be very interested in hearing how things go....my father and I had talked about opening up a sports bar as a father/son bonding place. He's retired and would just enjoy having something to do. He checked into and it and was blown away by the insurance costs/issues by selling beer.

Good luck tho!:ugogirl:

Oh definitely, the insurance alone is devastating, especially just starting out. You don't get lottery until you've been open for 6 months, so even that is not going to keep us going. We have got a business plan, and we'll be starting pretty small, and building onto it eventually. To cut cost a bit, and insurance, we're just going to sell bottles...no hard alcohol. Hard alcohol means fights, and more employees. Our place won't be a "bar", but more of a comfortable place to go and play pool, drink a couple beers, and watch sports or whatever you want to do. Although the benefit of selling hard-a is easily 300% on cost, it's just not worth the headache, and hassle to us at this point. To start, we'll just be serving deli items, like fresh sandwiches, soups, salads, frenchbread pizzas, etc...quick stuff, we are less than a block from the river so I'm sure summertime it will do really well. To put in a full kitchen (grill, hoods, dishwasher, appliances, etc) would cost us too much, plus we've already been there, done that with the restaurant business, and we are NOT going back. I think it's a good business plan, and Danny and I know SO many people from our store that I don't see it failing. I'll definitely take pics of the before and after remodel!

one of my local friends had a coffee shop but it was not turning enough dollars-- so he added a concept similar to yours - some sandwiches, pizza, hot wings and beer- LCD screens and busy has exploded!-

All you have to do is add Heather's Hot wings and you will have your own version of Hooters

p.s let us know when you get your cute "hooters uniform" and we all will drop by and spend a few dimes

Hahahaha! Now that would be hilarious! Funny thing is...my mom and I were brainstorming for the menu...and she reccomended a "Heather's Hot Wings" too. I used to make them at our convenience store, and people would go nuts over them. Oh well...all in good time! I don't want to get "expansion crazy" and get too big, too fast. We should be getting the layout plan from our interior design guy any day...then it's full speed ahead!
