I have an 05 armada se...I plan on getting a hitch either a class 3 or for..I plan on taking a trip from VA to Myrtle beach. My question is..will a 600 pound bike be able to be carried in this fashion or would it be mor feasible and safe to put it on a conventional trailer.
here's a picture of the rack i wanna get

I know it'd work fine with the Load-Leveling Shocks that come with the Tow Package but I'm not sure about it being on regular springs and shocks.

i tow my streetbikes to the races all the time. i had a carrier like that for the dirtbike when i had my jeep, just never felt safe with the streetbike on it. i bought a trailer from harbor freight tools (http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=92174). i can easily get 2 bikes in it, and my stands, extra tires, etc. for a long trip i would probably go that route just to be safe.

Our hitches can handle 910 lbs (from memory).
I think it would be OK from the Armada's end......about motorcycle securing.....I concede I don't know.
I know the Nissan Armada hitch is a lot stronger than the hitch on the Tahoe pictured (assuming it's an OEM hitch). Those things had a lot of failures.

while i am extreamly sure the mada can handle the load, the only thing that deviates me from this kind of setup, is ...
the people behond you cant see your tailights, signal lights(if you use them) and so u are just waiting for someone to rear end you and or hit you wehn changing lanes...
that is the only reason why i got rid of that thing, the first time i use it, my brother was riding behind me and he also rear ended me when i had to stop suddenly and he never saw any lights or anything...this after he calling me on the phone and complaining about the tailights being not visible with this set up... we made the trip from va to ny and in new york i bought a trailer for my trip back, the rail was put on craiglist and sold...
but the original questions was if it can handle it...yes it can.

Mr. Lego, that's an outstanding point.
A fairly easy solution could be a custom made cable/lights assembly. I envision a plug going into the factory tow receptacle, then wired to a few magnetic (or bolted) lights attached to the bike tray. Just a thought.

I appreciate the comments..I saw this and looked at it being a more cheaper alternative to getting my bike to Bike Week in may..I was scared if it was going to wear my rear suspension down or something like that..i guess its on to looking for a cheap trailer

I have a rack that I use to carry a tool box, compressor and other work items and the weight gets up into the 500+ lb range, so I know it will carry it (and with the air bags, you really don;t feel the weight that much).
Mr. Lego has an excellent point though; I went to Harbor Freight and got a trailer light kit, wired up my own harness to fit the 7pin and slapped her on. It works like a dream!
