Having a strange sound when you start the Armada and hold the key a little to long. It sound like an exhaust leak noise, but is the starter making a noise, and the sucker is buried under the intake manifold!

Any ideas if this is covered under the powertrain warranty?

Could have damaged flywheel too, will have to tear down to find out. We have 53k miles, no extended warranty.

Starter isn't under the drivetrain warranty!

I believe the rule-of-thumb for the driveline warranty is that it (the failed part) must come in contact with oil (engine, transmission, gear oil...etc).

Guess that's what heppens when a Mitsubishi part is used inside a Nissan. :rolleyes: Wonder if anyone carries Refurbs, that puppy looks maybe to be stupid expensive at $300.

starter is $380 Labor is 1.5 hours. make sure get new intake manifold gaskets too when doing it yourself.
