Brass Pass posted a message referring to a coin tray. It seems like this item is often missing. Can someone post a pic or description of this item, I don't think we got one. Thanks.

edit: I found info for the coin tray but we dont have one. Is this item an accessory or part of a option package? We have a SE 4x4 with the sunroof package (includes leather and Bose).

It is something that was supposed to be included from what I have been reading everywhere. The problem is very few of them ever got installed. I have no idea why but most people don't even realise it.

A coin tray came with my SE, and wasn't on the options list - so I'm assuming everyone should have one. I though about ordering a second one for the aft console. They are a bit pricey though.

Ah! Yes, the "infamous coin tray." It is an elusive beast at best. Adam, my salesman at New-Nissan.com, emailed me the other day and said he had asked the parts guy about it. The parts guy told him it was discontinued in his latest catalog. But, he would be receiving another catalog and it might be listed.

Adam said he would keep looking for one. I fully expect to find one in the mail soon along with my touch-up paint. Adam has so far shown himself to be a man of his word (no pressure... if your lurking Adam :)) .

While perusing the Armada Owner's Manual today I saw the infamous coin tray pictured in one of the drawings. It may have even been referenced. I'll have to check it again and report back with a page number.

I'm also getting weary of not having a place for change. I hope Adam finds one and sends it soon (once again, no pressure... if your lurking Adam). I think it's a conspiracy. Some enterprising Nissan employee is getting to them before the customer and he is going to set-up shop on the internet and make a fortune selling them to the ignorant masses. ;) Maybe it's the head guy Goshan (sp?) trying to make a little coin on the side. Not that he needs it or anything.

Anyways, I'll keep you informed about my quest to obtain one of the elusive and at best infamous coin trays. :)

One more item while I have your attention... VOTE BUSH, VOTE BUSH, VOTE BUSH, VOTE BUSH. I feel much better now.

John, et. al.,

After many hours of exhaustive research and one too many candy bars out of my kids trick-or-treat bag, i've found it. Shown in the 2004 Pathfinder Armada Owner's Manual on page 2-35 of the Instruments and contols section and commonly known as "diagram WIC0642" to those in the know, is the elusive and infamous coin tray in black and white. Isn't she a beaut Walt!

I spent an afternoon with Nissan Parts and on the phone with Nissan Corp.
The coin tray is mislabeled on the Nissan factory dealer parts diagram. It shows up next to the shifter, and not in side the center console. Also is labelled as CUP HOLDER, until you drill down on the description, then shows it as a coin holder.

The part number on my order form is 96925-78000(hard to read the writing)
It is STANDARD and included on ALL Armada's up to 10/2004. Basiaclly all 2004's should have one, and not included on 2005's.

So if you have a 2004, this is a $85 factory item that you should have in your Armada or Titan. If you don't, you should go back to your dealer and have them look at the details on the part that shows up next to the shifter that is labelled as a cup holder. When you click on that item, then it finally shows up as a coin holder.

Nissan has two parts lists. One for parts that come standard on the Armada and one for accessories. The COIN HOLDER is on the standard list.

I've spoke to 4 dealerships and everyone is truly stumped to why the Armada's are not even coming with these from the factory. Many are speculating that because the parts list is mislabelled, the factory in Tenn. is just not putting one in, because the diagram shows it next to the shifter. The other theory is that salespeople and customers are stealing them. But because they don't fit in any other Nissan other than Armada and Titan, and there are none on eBay, I believe Nissan is just not putting these in.

I looked through over 60 Armada's yesterday to "borrow" a coin holder, not one single coin holder to be found.

Not wanting to burst your bubble, but...

Mine came with a coin tray and we just don't find it all that useful (but I'm not giving it up!). I use it to store extra plugs and ear pieces for the phone. Mostly it gets in the way when I go to pull my Caselogic CD binder out of the center console.

Maybe I'm the wrong guy to ask, but I don't leave coins in the truck because small hands like to feed them into the CD player, heater vents, and any other space that adults would never think of. When I do have change after getting coffee I put it in the small tray to the left of the gauge cluster.

Happy hunting for the coin tray.

After having the dealer hunt through his inventory and getting one for us, I agree it always seems to be in the way. If you don't have one don't worry about it.
If you want to push your dealer for something I think it shoud be the 2nd rear cross-bar on the roof rack. All pictures have two in the rear and it seems to be kinda dumb to have just one unless you have a very long item that can reach from the front to the rear.

OffRoadinArmada
11-27-2004, 11:22 PM
Thats true about the roof bar. Has anyone rec'd one from their dealer? I know mine won't give anything for free unless Nissan USA forces them to. I heared that they are at some rediculous 125 dollars or something. Can't you just buy a new roof storage system for that??

Armadaof1
11-27-2004, 11:46 PM
$125 will barely scratch the surface on purchasing cross bars and adapter mounts for a Thule or Yakima setup.

andy
11-28-2004, 01:12 AM
I guess you guys are right. I'd rather have a second cross bar on the roof. Didn't realize that the picture has two and we have one.
Damn, what else is missing? I better go check the jack and the spare tire....

I probably won't use the coin tray but I guess I'm caught up in the principle of getting what I'm supposed to get.

ken_taylor
11-28-2004, 11:43 AM
I was real excited about the third crossbar as we have a Yakima Rocketbox we use on our van. The only problem is the two crossbars "as is" are too far apart. If I were to add the third crossbar, then the two rear crossbars are too close together. I can't seem to get the right distance between the crossbars.

Ken

Armadaof1
11-29-2004, 02:33 AM
Not sure how big the Rocket box is, but my Thule adventurer needed to have some extra holes drilled to fit the factory cross bars. I agree - the third bar would really help.

On the plus side, the factory bars are elliptical vice the rectangular bars for Thule and the round Yakima bars. The result is nearly no wind noise and something like 20X less wind resistance.

ken_taylor
11-29-2004, 04:34 PM
Armadaof1,

Did you make the modifications yourself, and are you worried about the integrity of the box? Yakima recommends that no new holes be drilled.

Thanks
Ken

Armadaof1,

Did you make the modifications yourself, and are you worried about the integrity of the box?

I drilled the holes myself. I have done this twice - once to move the box way outboard on my Volvo to make room for bike racks and then to fit the box onto the Armada's roof bars. I'm pretty certain I haven't jeopardized the integrity of the box by adding another eight holes.

Just remember to put some duct tape type material over the unused holes to prevent water leakage.

After showing my dealership the coin tray pictured in the owners manual and the fact that the coin tray is on the standard parts list(vs the options and accessories parts list) they agreed to order one for me.
I got a couple days ago and it's okay.
I ordered it mainly because I didn't want to fill up the cup holders with change.
The damn coin tray only has 3 slots in it. One for Quarters, Dimes, and Nickels. So where the hell do I put the pennies? So now I've got pennies in my cup holders.
It's not worth the $80+ list price, and it's for sure not worth spending 3 weeks haggling with my Nissan dealer over.

Note: If you have a 2004 Armada, it's a standard item. But not for 2005's

GCFiend
12-16-2004, 12:38 PM
Where can I find the standards part list for the Armada. The Nissan Parts Dept can't find it in their catalogue, nor is it in any of their remaining 04 Armada's. I checked the Owner's Manual on 2-34 an I do see a picture of it but no description. Is just having a picture of it in the owner's manual enough? There's no reference to it anywhere in the manual besides the picture. My Owner's Manual has a printing date of OCtober 2003 (02) (in case there are multiple versions of it)

I want my coin holder!! :)

Got the wheels in motion to get my Coin Holder. Key was to get the correct part number 96925-7s000. With it I was able to confirm with the Parts Dept that this item is listed under the Standards Part list. After confirmation, i called my salesperson and informed of my missing item and that his parts department had confirmed that it was suppose to be included with the vehicle.

andy
12-16-2004, 08:06 PM
The coin tray is on the standard parts list but it's not listed correctly. It's listed as a cup holder and shows up next to the gear shifter.
Good luck in getting yours.
I got mine more out of principle, than necessity.

The dealer told me that ALL 2004 Armada and Titans come standard with this $80+ coin tray. The confusion probably is because Nissan put this part in a strange place. See below at picture. If you want to pursue getting this, print this picture out, bring it to the dealer so he can find it on his computer. Tell them that you did not get this standard included part with your vehicle.
(I hope the picture shows that I've attached)

'06 Armada SE I suppose don't have a center console coin holder tray? The dealer we bought our Mada don't have it on their catalog. Maybe I'll print a copy from "andy." I also found the item on http://www.courtesyparts.com item Code: 99925-7S001 for $44.04 was $67. It's listed as a '04 part.

I have found the coin tray to be better than nothing, but not much better.
Someone posted that they bought a $1 plastic tray thing from Target or Walmart and it fits across the center console opening. I'd bet this is a better way to go.

Personally, I try no to leave anything in my truck! Even though I live in a pretty decent subdivision in Maryland. Being from NY, I guess you can take a brother out of the city, but you can't take the city out of a brother!

How weird that I came across this post. Just yesterday morning was trying to find a better place than my cup holder to put my change and moved it the top left dash pocket next to the pillar like 92tripleblack does. I also wandered down the automotive aisle at Target last night and saw a plastic cup that has individual slots to hold change that you put in your cup holder. Around $4-5. I almost put it in the cart, then decided I needed both cup holders up front to hold beverages - it is just sooooo HOT here in AZ in the summer that I often have 2-3 water bottles with me when I run errands. I use the fold out cup holder to hold CD cases, receipts, just junk.

I use a cd case that fits perfectly in the door. This frees up the center fold out cup holder area. Or, you could move somewhere that's cooler. :crikey:

Only the 04 came with it. Is it worth the $40 to $60 price tag they want now days for it no...but I use it for holding my remotes. The change goes in the long bin along the transmission hump. I put some padding in the bottom of it using the material they make mouse pads out of. No rattle and it doesn't bounce out. If anybody with an 06 wants the change tray let me know and I'll trade you for your split 3rd row:)

That's the location I use for my change that I wrote about in an earlier post. The CD case holds CDs, DVDs, and PS-2 games. It fits perfectly in the door pocket leaving the center console for drinks and guns. ;) I don't use the AUX for MP3 much. I have an Ipod because it was a gift but I don't like the inferior sound quality of MP3s. I can't listen to them. They just sound flat. One of the negatives I guess from being a stereo installer. You get picky.

well, so i called the dealer and told them i was going saturday for the one key and remote fob the owe me, i also told them i didnt find the headphone or remote anywhere in the truck and they told me they would check on that...i also mentioned about the coin tray..he was quick to reply that my MAda didnt have one because of the dvd package, since the dvd player goes in that midle console it is already taking space and so they do no come in that case,

so for all you folks who have the dvd package, dont look for that tray...

Thanks all,
I had tried putting my change in several different places. I tried the long bin besides the transmission hump but with my nails, I had a hard time getting the change picked up to hand to the McDonald's window guy. Then moved it to the cup holder and as I wrote before took it out of there and put it in the left hand dash pocket next to the window. Regarding the side door pocket for CDs and stuff, I have my garbage can there. With kids you gotta have a convenient trash can to throw away snotty kleenex while cruising down Loop 101 at 70 mph. :D And yes, I do know about the fold out cup holder in the center console - that is where I keep CD's and stuff since my DVD is going into the lidded console. Anyway, if someone is interested in something cheap especially made for change - Target has the item I previously mentioned.

As far as I know, they were only available in the '04's. My neighbor rented an '04 for a weekend trip and snagged the coin tray for me and I find it very useful.

It's $40 from CourtesyParts and probably cheaper elsewhere.

I'd like to have one, but there's no way I'd spend $40 for it.

It looks pretty wide. I'm guessing combining it with the DVD player makes the center console very shallow. I wonder why Nissan didn't just do a small coin holder.

dan

Pops
07-23-2007, 09:02 PM
It's about the same width as the DVD Player so it only takes up less than 1/2 of the console width. It's shallow enough to leave about 3/4 inch between the top of the DVD Player and the bottom of the tray.

Being able to put it over the top of the DVD player then slide it for DVD changes is smart - as long as your console isn't too full for it to slide.

I'd still prefer that it was half the length and I couldn't spend $40 :(

Thanks for the pic Pops,
dan

I just use one of the cup holders. its easier for my wife to dig out change from there than anywhere else.
if we had a change tray, the coins would never go in the right slots. I'd just throw them in and possibly drop a few that would end up under the dvd player. nissan probably did me a favor by discontinuing that piece.

They were supposed to come on '04 but many dealers didn't put them in and sold them. They were dropped for '05. I use the "pocket" for lack of a better term in the dash on the top left hand corner for my change. ;)

Down to 39.00 If anyones still eying one.

They stopped including them in '05. The only way I found out about it was from seeing it in an '04 that was a rental.

Not sure if there is a pic of the coin tray actually in use to look at in the forum, so decided to post one.

I was a little surprised how small it was compared to how much it cost.

Well, well, well.........I had no idea I was missing something. In my 2007 Armada I put change in the top left opening on the dashboard. I would do the same in my fiance's 2007 Titan, BUT the change would fly towards me when I stepped on the gas (I did not have that problem in the 07 Armada).

Just traded my 07 in for an 08 Armada and today I realized I did not have a place for change (the opening is not on the dashboard like I had in the 07). I ended up throwing 2 quarters in the left hand section on the side of my gear shifter thing.

I will call my salesman, he BETTER get us both one for free considering we have bought 4 cars from him in 1 year, ha ha.
