Considering that article is from Feb 15th, I'm sure the A/V companies have updated their Defs to address it. That's crazy though.

I remember hearing something about that awhile back but never saw any details on it. That link you provided is very informational and answered a couple questions I was wondering about it but never took the time to lookup. :D

It's pretty crazy. I remember when this happened, I know people who use these type of digital picture frames on Government computers. Just imagine if the "bad guys" are able to access sensitive information. It actually scares the crap out of me.

i thought the govt removed all usb ports and any type of port that ppl are use to plug stuff in. so this is not true? i mean if i work for a govt agency and have a malice intent i can plug a flash card in and download stuff.

It all depends on which agency. Many Gov't agencies have removed any access to external media or the ability to copy data. Not all government agencies have the same IT policies.

It does depend...... Most of them do not provide any Internet access and they're not dumb enough to store any data or security on a Microsoft platform. You can hack a Govt Windows PC all you want and you'll get nothing more than possibly the user's family pics if they are even allowed any access to Internet or external devices. Even the field ops connect using at least 3DES IPSEC (or at least they used to, very likely to be stronger now) over secured comm lines to connect to the centralized comm hubs. The worst viruses in the world can be loaded onto most of those machines and won't get squat. If anyone is able to write code that can possibly access govt data, that person is very likely to be working for them.
