And Continential will cover 50% of the replacement cost (of the contitrac's, but they will apply the $320 to anything)

I can get a new set of Contitrac's for $308 or $453 if I get replacement coverage.

OR

I can get a set of Michelin Cross Terrain SUV tires for $830 including the replacement coverage. ($700 without).

Any suggestions??????? I have a 2006...

My personal opinion would be to avoid the Contitracs, I haven't heard of many lasting much past 30k. I've heard the Cross Terrains are an excellent tire but you need to consider your driving desires as you're looking for your next set. Michelin Cross Terrain, Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo, Toyo Proxes are all excellent road going tires, IMHO.

Being "shot" at 25k does make me think that $75 for an alignment might be a wise investment. Some tire shops will include it for free with the tires but make sure they have the latest high-dollar alignment equipment that has a driveup ramp and uses mirrors. Otherwise, most dealerships should be able to do an excellent job.

Thanks for your help - "shot" as in 3/32's on the outer parts of the tire. DH was looking at them the other day and told me to start saving for tires - I took a chance and called conti to see if they cover replacement as per the warranty and they do pro rate replacements. I will ask about the alignment as well. BTW, we bought the armada used and it had 9K when we got it - so a little over a year after us purchasing the truck, we need new tires....

Just curious, how are you getting Continental to cover 50% of the replacement cost? I'm wanting to spring for the Michelins, and would love to get them for $700!!!

Go with the Michelin Cross Terrains. The Continental tires on my 04 were garbage. I put the Michelin Cross Terrains on and it made a huge difference in ride quality. Its difficult to even compare the two tires because IMHO the Michelin is so superior.

I took the truck to the tire place, they checked the tires and called Continental to let them know there was a customer with a warranty claim. Based on the mileage of the truck, Continental said they would pay 50% of the replacement cost on new Contritrac tires. The tire place applied the 50% to the purchase of the Michelin Cross Terrian ones. Also, sears had the Michelin's on sale for $199, so the tire place then matched the price.

How many miles did you have on the Contis? I've got 32K, would love to do the same thing you did.
