I bought an 08 LE with no tinted rear windows. I have only seen one other vehicle without tinted windows. Is this standard or an option I wasn't advised about. Perhaps I was distracted by the big engine and other goodies to notice the windows.:D I actually prefer the untinted glass but was wondering if the OEM glass has film on it or is the glass coloured? This could present a problem if I have a broken window some time in the future.

So far all the Armada I have seeing has the rear windows tinted except the passanger, driver front and winshield...All vehicles glass are safety glass..

The factory tinted glass has the tint added to the glass. It is not a film. That is just crazy that you got one without tint. I was told when I ordered mine that it was not an option. I always like to get my vehicles without tint, so I can shade them myself. You should post a picture. I would like to see how it looks with clear/green glass. I wouldnt worry about getting a replacement if you break one. If it was an option you will be able to get replacements.

I am in Qatar where the outside temp gets up to 50C in a month or so. Depending on how the AC performs, I may just have to have the windows tinted. I have some pictures posted on the Gallery.

That's what the dealer told me so they probably put film on. Tinting is very popular here so I wonder why they come with clear. Ready tinted would probably sell more vehicles.

From what I understand it is a law in some of the Middle East countries that the windows must not be tinted, so they made them all that way.

As cpaul says, all mid east spec cars/suvs come without the privacy tint. Here in Saudi the police used to smash the windows out of cars if they were tinted or pulled the curtains out if they were fitted. (they seem to have stopped now)

Get quality tint like VCool, Ziebart etc which has the sun/uv reflecting surface (makes a big difference to heat in the car). But be very careful of having the driver and front passenger window tinted, as the tint gets scratched very very easily. Armadas along with Mercs and some other cars are famous for this, you can get some stuff called moleskin to line the window inner trim if you want to do a proper job.
