norcal05SE 05-26-2008, 03:22 PM was that scca racing? looks like fun!!
djteedub 05-26-2008, 03:57 PM I think it was SCCA ... The race was called the KONI classic. There were actually a few different classes of racing going on Saturday. Wanted to go today for the main event (Mustangs, Porsche's) but wasn't able to go.
esMada 05-27-2008, 02:02 AM Looks like it was a good time. Thats my favorite kind of car racing.
armadadd 05-27-2008, 09:40 AM Nice pics...thanks for sharing...
djteedub 05-27-2008, 11:18 AM No problem ... There was a member here who had purchased a Nikon D-80 and I have the same camera ... wanted to practice taking some motion shots. Here are a few more:

Peter Benger 05-27-2008, 11:51 AM Hey, looks like you are a natural. Great photos by-the-way. :)
djteedub 05-27-2008, 01:38 PM Thanks ... Still learning F-stops and shutter speeds, but getting there. This is the first time I've taken it out of "point and shoot" mode.

BlakSpyda 05-28-2008, 10:19 AM Wow. A lot of nice shots!
djteedub 06-02-2008, 01:13 PM Thanks. Still learning the camera a ... no photographic experience, but learning a lot about shutterspeeds vs f-stops with my camera. The darker pictures are at faster shutter speeds, but less light comes into the camera. This info is old hat for some of you, but new to me so don't laugh too hard. I've been trying to get out of "point and shoot" mode and be a little more creative.
BlakSpyda 06-02-2008, 01:24 PM I have a Cannon PowerShot S5-IS. it is a point and shoot with all of the flexibility of an SLR. I can add/change lenses and add a faster flash.
djteedub 06-02-2008, 01:30 PM I went DSLR after taking some action photos with my old P&S Nikon and hearing the shutter go off after the action went by. At the time we were taking a trip to Milwaukee for Summerfest and I wanted something I was sure I wouldn't have that problem with. I bought a Nikon D80, more camera than I needed at the time, but it did the job. Now that I have some extra time, I want to get a little more into photography.
BlakSpyda 06-02-2008, 01:40 PM The D80 is a sweet camera. Fast shutter speed for lots of action shots. What I have done so far to catch the action with this one is to turn the "Pitcture Review" off. That way there is no look at the picture or delay before you take the next one! I more or less just hold my finger on the button to get action shots.

Nice pics. I watched that race on TV. Funny, I drove right past the track countless times when I traveled up to New Canaan to build a project for SMI. I didn't even know it until i saw the ad in Hemmings Sports and Exotic Car and it said it was in Lakeland, CT... I ate at The Boathouse dozens of times in my travels through there and never knew I was that close to the track. I'd love to take the old P-Car up there for a romp one day! That'd be cool!
djteedub 06-02-2008, 02:42 PM It's a great place to see a race. It's a big park, so there's no real seating or bleachers. Bring a chair or blanket, walk over a bridge and your on the infield of the track. You can set up where you want, even check out the cars in the paddock. I'm kind of hooked now. They've shut the track down until July, according to a couple of friends, to widen a couple of the turns and make it more Nascar-friendly (there's a Grand National race in August). One of the guys I work with here may be to get me credentials so I can get even closer to the action the next time I go (cross my fingers).
