Brake warning light and rough braking momentarily twice today. Parked and engage parking brake, turned the car off and then drove it around. It seemed like that fixed problem. Manual suggest checking brake fluid level. Checked that, it's between MAX and MIN. I'm going to add some closer to MAX level. I washed the 'mada including the undercarriage, could I have wet something that caused the warning light to turn on?

Interesting..... Just a thought here but I've noticed while under mine that the Parking Brake cable has a fairly flimsey spring that returns it to release position. It's located in the center of the mid section of your undercarriage, you may want to double check that it's still there and holding strong.

Thank you. I'll check it out.

The flimsy spring is still holding strong. I added some brake fluid. I hope I did the right thing. Between synthetic DOT 3 and plain DOT 3, I chosed plain DOT 3 Pyroil by Valvoline. I filled just below MAX level. Drove it around town for about 5 minutes then about 5 miles on the freeway. No Brake Warning Light, thank you God. I don't really want to go to the dealer for repairs anytime soon. If it the warning light turns on again after a week from yesterday, I think I'll take it in.

Just had this happen to me on Saturday. Had the Mada towed to the Nissan dealer and I got a call yesterday saying the computer had to be reprogrammed. I didn't get the receipt yet since their cashier was closed when I went to pick it up but I will let you know exactly what they did later on.
POPS actually posted this on the BAD ABS post on this forum. Check it out....

"Alright, here's where she posted the fix, they reprogrammed her ABS Control Module. If I remember correctly, I think there is a firmware update to fix a known bug.

I think the TSB can probably be found on http://x.nissanhelp.com/forums/Knowledgebase/links/192."

The brake fluid is contained in a sealed system. If the level is low it is typically one of two things:

1) Leak in the system
2) Worn brake pads

Money is on #2. As the piston in the caliper pushes out the fluid in the resevoir gets lower. Once you replace the brake pads and push the piston back in the fluid level will rise back up to the top.

Chances are, if your brake fluid is low it means you need new pads (and perhaps rotors). Filling the fluid just masks the problem. In addition, the fluid should be flushed at least once every two years because it is hydroscopic (attracts moisture) which lowers the boiling point and causes a spongey feel the peddel and decreased breaking performance.

I would check the pads.
