Purchased brand new 2004 Armada in January 2004. In July 2005, with 20,000 miles had “front breaks” TSB completed (replaced rotors, pads calipers etc). Now, 3 years later and only another 20,000 more miles, front rotors are totally rusted on inside and pads are gone. Nissan declined a “Good Will” and told me that this is normal wear and tear.
Guess, I’m set for new breaks every 20,000 miles, and I’m not the only one.
Go Nissan!
Garry.
2004 Armada, 41,000 miles.
Just want to emphasize: Rotors are rusted, due to a very pure part quality…..
Please see the picture.
I am on my THIRD set at 41,000 miles!!!! Love my Armada anyway…!

I bought mine (2006 SE) in January 06 and my first brake job was around 30K and the second was around 45-50K. I now have 70K.
40K in 4 years is not bad but driving style and habits will determine your brake use (wear and tear) more than mileage.

I am at 70,000 on my '04 and My rotors are beginning to warp again I had the TSB done at 14,000 miles so I guess I made a pretty good run.

Wow....70k miles? I hope I don't get new car happy before I can get to 70k. I got 22k now!:D

What in the world causes the inboard pad to wear like that? I have about 42k miles since the tsb was done and my inboard pads look just like the picture above. It's like only half of the inboard pad is is making contact with the rotor. The outboard pad looks perfectly normal. There is plenty of meat left on the inboard and outboard pads on both sides, but the "judder" is coming back. I've been working on my cars ever since I learned to drive and I've never had a set of brakes wear like this.
I'm guessing for whatever reason there is accelerated corrosion on the inside of the rotors that is chewing up the inboard pad like this. It seems like with the smaller friction area the heat would be concentrated causing higher localized heat and probably causing the rotors to warp again.
I've only put about 5k miles on the truck since January. Maybe the insides of the rotors rusted up badly from sitting. Anyone else notice this?
