Interesting issue came up on Sunday while driving to our timeshare in Chelan, WA. While making the trek from the west side to the eastern part of the state the temperature went from 70 degrees to a dry 101. It just so happens that as soon as I noted the temp the tpms warning light came on the dash, so I looked on the information menu and found that my tires read 44, 44, 44 and the third one down read "**" . So I pulled over and checked them, they were all right on 44 pounds. It seems to me that normally they are 36psi. So I figured there was just a failure due to the heat and moved on. Next day, in the AM, the warning was off and while driving the pressure was down to 36-37 and all tires were reading that value.

Today, I drove it again and while it started out fine, once a had a few miles on it the tires went up to 44 pounds and that very same tire sensor displayed no reading. Car sat in shade while in the store and after coming back out, it was fine again. I figure one of the sensors is messed up because no matter what the tire pressure is, it seems like it should read, but I have to wonder if this is some kind of known issue.

Ideas?

rotate the tires and if the "**" on the display moves to that wheel position then you need to replace that sensor.
