: 08 Tow Hitch Wiring Kit!!!!!!!!!!!
sharky35 08-12-2008, 03:40 PM Hi as you can see from my signature picture I own 08 SL mada (Middle East version that comes without towing kit).
I installed my friend x-infinity qx56 hitch receiver myself (perfect fit), but unfortunately I found out that my mada was not prewired, so I went to the local dealer to purchase the wiring kit but apparently they don’t have it and the worse thing is; it is not listed in their accessories items!!!!
Can somebody tell me where to find and order one and how to fix it?

olmoomba 08-13-2008, 12:25 AM try this - I just bought it for my US version SE - you have to wire it direct to the chassis harness under the passenger floor board. Easy for me - easy directions to follow.

I am in Qatar and have just fitted a hitch on my 08 Le. The local agents have the wiring on order. Not sure what the price will be. They seem to be bringing in accessories to Qatar now but the prices are pretty steep, roughly twice the US prices but I suppose shipping costs a bit. I will let you know when it arrives.

Thanks olmoomba for your reply, but where exactly under passenger floor board? and dose that wiring harness come with installation instruction?
Qatarsandpekkie thanks for passing bye, and waiting for your update.
olmoomba 08-14-2008, 10:48 AM Yes, it does come with instructions, harness and 3 relays. The harness coupling is under the passenger floor board, outside of the vehicle. You have to get on your back, safety glasses suggested, to access it. There will be instructions included on how to access, disassemble, where to put the pins and reassemble the harness connector. That was the hardest part. I managed to complete the entire install of hitch reciever and harness in less than an hour. For the really novice installer, perhaps 1 hr 15 min. Also included are the relays that you will have to install in your engine compartment fuse block. There are 3 and its plug and play on that end. Hope it helps - I am assuming that you do not have the connector there installed already to plug into the reciever end. I can't tell if you have a 7pin round connector in place on the reciever or not.
olmoomba 08-14-2008, 10:58 AM Ok here you go.

Scroll down to section (A 09) you will see the towing harness, etc.
What should be on the reciever right now is part number 2406J, illustration # D.
What you should be ordering is the part number I gave you earlier, the location of the harness can be found in the same illustration labeled # J, G, H.

thanks olmoomba for your effort to in-light me with towing wiring harness, yes i do not have the connector yet (I got the receiver without it), so which one is suitable for me the 4 or 7 pin connector?
olmoomba 08-17-2008, 12:20 AM I am misunderstanding the question. On your reciever you should have at least half of the 7 pin round connector, do you have that, that part is 2406J in the diagram? if so then you need to get a 7 pin round to 4 or 5 flat adapter, depeding on the trailer you are towing. If you get a 5 wire flat adapter, a 4 prog trailer harness will work. There is another post regarding those with a picture. If you do not have that on the reciever then you need to order that as well. At that point you will be complete along with the harness.
Good luck - I will try to get pictures this week, IF you still have questions.
olmoomba 08-17-2008, 01:04 AM Oh and I highly suggest getting air bags for tow support if you have any kind of weight at all.
sharky35 08-17-2008, 02:55 AM its all clear now, thanks olmoomba for your Patient I really appreciated.
olmoomba 08-17-2008, 02:38 PM Ok, I took pics, click the links to check it out.

sharky35 08-17-2008, 04:50 PM Very good pics, they say picture tell 1000 words. Now it is much easier to follow harness locations.
One more thing:
in your pics I notice this thing (which i dont have in my mada) what is that???!!!!

bbrwn 08-17-2008, 08:04 PM Oh and I highly suggest getting air bags for tow support if you have any kind of weight at all.
What air bags would you recommend? I love everything about towing with the Armada except it squats pretty good without the auto level suspension.
olmoomba 08-17-2008, 11:35 PM Sharky - my mada is lifted 4" in the rear, 6" in the front. Pro Comp set up has dual shocks for each rear wheel, that is part of my lift kit, its not stock.
bbrwn - I used Firestone Coil Rites - I wrote up a small review in the suspension section. Since I am lifted the squat is exagerated at night with the headlights, as well as handling is compromised by the 'hyperextension' of the front coil overs. My ride is uber stable now and ride quality is still on par, but not near as floaty as before - I don't like floaty.

I see, but I think Infinity QX56 got it built-in. will it fit in our mada coz I found some unplugged wires in that vicinity?

Read the review in the suspension section and it sounds like the airbags are just what I am looking for. I'm amazed at the short amount of time it took you to install. I'll start some research and find some Firestone bags.
Thanks.
olmoomba 08-19-2008, 11:06 AM I purchased the bags from www.suspensionconnection.com and had them air freighted, I called them the next morning to scheduled the rush shipping and it was not an issue for them to do that. Really good customer service.
The install is very simple. Open the box, check the directions.
1. Chock the front wheels.
2. Lift the vehicle ( I used a floor jack on the rear diff)
3. Deflate the bags
4. Insert deflated bag between the coils, work it through.
4a. I started at the top and worked it down, instructions call for starting from bottom and work up.
5. Run and secure air lines
6. Inflated to 20psi - to soft went straight to 35psi max recommended from firestone and called it good.
I did not drill holes to permanently mount the fill valves, I coiled the line and zip tied it to the reciever. I used one tie so that I can pull the valve from under the vehicle to adjust pressure. I do plan to 'mate' the lines with a 't' fitting to equally adjust the bags at the same time and eventually an onboard compressor w/in cabin monitoring and adjustability.
