Depends on your needs/wants. I love the Nitto Terra Grapplers, everything to love and nothing to not like unless you prefer a strictly Street or heavy Mud Tire. For strictly street, the Toyo Proxes are great. For heavy mud and good onroad, Cooper Discoverer STT are the best bang for the buck.

the toyo open country a/t and the nitto terra grappler are gonne be about the best compromise between snow-ability and street-ability. my open country a/ts have gone through everything i've thrown at em, winter wise. the bridgestone dueler and michelin cross terrains are both great tires as well.

If you plan on running the replacement tires year round, consider a set of Nokian WR S.U.V. AWP tires, including a 5th for a spare. They're good for winter snow and ice, as well as the other 3 seasons. Wheel locks recommended.

How long do the Nokians last and when does their traction start to stink?? Those two priorities are most important on my personal tire list when i shop them.

I am trying to find LT rated tires for my 2006 O/R Off Road SE, however whenever I go to Tire Rack and look up by vehicle, it will only pull up P rated all terrain equivalents to the OEM tires such as Silent Armor or Duelers. Those tires have LT versions, but they do not come up for the Armada when I do a vehicle search. Do the LT tires correspond to the same 285 70R17 size of the P tires or do I need to do a size conversion?

They are the same, "LT" stands for "Light Truck" and is usually a more durable tire.

I have Yokohama Parada SpecX 305-50-20 on my 06 SE off road with 10,000 miles on them and they ride great. Haven't had them through the winter yet.

dont search by vehicle, search by tire size. that will include all load ratings, like this: http://www.americastire.com/dtcs/searchTiresBySize.do?r=CNNINT&cs=285&ar=70&rd=17

No one I know has worn out a set of them yet. Being a snow and ice tire, as well as an all-weather tire, I wouldn't expect them to last more than 30,000 under the heavy Armada as the tread is softer. But for traction in snow and ice, that's the price you pay. I wouldn't have recommended these tires to someone living in Dallas, Miami, or L.A., but for someone in MN who might want some better winter traction on the same tires they can run in the summer, I'll recommend them. My friends in MT sure love them.

The OP knows how their Armada handled Minnesota winters with the current tires, so if they're happy they may not want the more expensive Nokian.

That's interesting!!! It looks like a nice tread pattern. They also say they're made out of 100% Silica which should get great Tire Wear. The only problem I see with them is that they don't come in a good size for us, the largest are 29" diameter, our OEM tires are 32". I think we might be able to get by with a 30 but I don't know if I'd want to try a 29.

BUT, Nokian does have the Vativa which does come in our size and also looks like it might turn out to be a good tire.

Oh well, I tried. The OP did however put the factory wheels up for sale, so no telling what wheels are on their Armada now. I don't know anyone who owns the Vatiiva model to say anything good or bad. Nokian isn't recommending Vatiiva's for snow and ice driving though.

Anyway, good luck. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

That Vativa still looks like it might be a good tire for someone further south to try out. They are Load Range 'E', $271/ea, and look like they might possibly have a decent tread life.
