Hows it going fellow members. Gotta quick question for the tire pros out there. Im getting ready to replace my stock tires from my 06 LE but Im not too sure of what brand to get. I definatly want a real smooth ride and it dont really snow out here in Killeen but I want to be very confident on rainy days. Ive heard the Michelin Coss terrain is the way to go. What do you recommend?

you should read through this thread (http://www.clubarmada.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1698), has many recommendations and reasons for the various choices many of us have made.

I just purchased the Michelin LTX AT2's. Only driven 150 miles all during a strong rain storm and they performed flawless compared to the Conti's they replaced. No wheel spin, but I was not flooring it. Haven't been off road with them, but there is virtually no noise and very smooth. Michelin only offers the tire in a 275/65/18. Originally I thought they would look small, but they look pretty good. Semi-aggressive tread pattern for road tire and the reviews were pretty good.

Here is a review: http://www.canadiandriver.com/articles/jb/michelin2.htm

I did pay to get an alignment, because after 30 miles noticed the outer edge wearing. The alignment was way out of whack....good 69.00 investment.

If yuu don't off road, it's hard to beat the Cross Terrains. They are great in rain and dry. They are good in snow, but don't match true winter tires in snow. Mileage has been excellent, much better than the OEM GYs.

2nd vote for Cross Terrains. Got about 1K on mine right now, and really like them, compared to the stock Contis.

I really like my Michelin Cross Terrain's. I've had them since last year and they've been phenomenal in both rain (I live in Florida so I know rain really well), and dry weather. They have over a 700 tread wear rating and they have a warranty from Michelin up to something ridiculous, I believe its 30k miles. They're pricey for sure, but worth it in my opinion. Don't skimp on tires ever...they're what keep your vehicle glued to the road. I know my family is worth more than a couple extra hundred bucks on a set of tires.

Oh yeah...the OEM Continental's sucked major ***. I don't know what Nissan/Infiniti were thinking.

I recently purchased Toyo Open Country H/T's which are Highway Terrain tire with a 60,000 mile warranty. I had BF Goodrich tires previously. These Toyo's which are Japanese tires are awesome tires. My Armada is a whole different vehicle. These tires are very smooth, and have good traction in the rain. These are one to check into for sure.

Just before Thanksgiving, I replaced my orginal Contis on my 06 LE with Firestone Destination LEs. After driving 1k miles over the holiday, I am pretty happy with them. I got 66k miles of service out the OEM contis and never thought they were not as bad as others say on the board, however my tire judging ability may not be as fine tuned and I most of my use was highway. If I wasn't in a hurry, I probably would have gotten the michelins from Costco. BTW, the shop owner said treadwear was perfect on the old tires and the Beast didn't need an alignment. Pretty impressive after 66k miles of Pittsburgh potholes.

I get a great ride out of my Yokohama parada SpecX, and they stick to the pavement pretty well.

How are they for towing?

Also, are they as quiet as the Conti's?

I am looking for a tire suitable for highway towing; no snow and no offroad use.

I mostly use my Armada for towing. I tow a track car, around 4500# altogether. I'll buy 'em again when this set wears out. I have no complaints. The tires are quiet, but my OEMs were GY, not Conti.

I was able to squeeze out 47k out of the OEM contis. I purchased the conti cross contacts from Tire Rack. Have been good so far. I dont expect any better performance in the snow than the OEMs. Quiet ride as well.

So I was going for the michelin's cross terrains but unfortunatly they are being phased out. Instead I bought the replacement model, the Latitude Tour P265/70R18 114T , with a 30% sale discount for military folks. The treads look great and so far its been a real smooth ride, thanks everyone for the info! :D
