\\Can someone tell me if u experienced this on your Armada?

I was cleaning it today when I noticed a small hairline crack on the rear rim. I figured that it should be ok and driveable for now. I was looking at the warranty book but clearly I could not say if the rim is covered or not. I did buy the security+. I am hoping that if this is not covered that my insurance will cover it.

that is a new one on me but unless it looks like 'abuse' and you have a reasonable dealer you should be fine.

Bring it back. Without a big dent from hitting a curb, it is probably defective and you should get a new one.

They will replace it. The dealer that is. They claim that it is a stress crack. The beauty is just sitting in my drive way since March. I had to get a second car for work and pleasure due to the gas prices. I only take it out on Sunday's when we go to Church.

New member here. I'm not "trolling" by digging this up... read on, please.

My in-laws are in a battle with a big rental car agency regarding a 2005 Armada they rented and didn't check over very well before they drove off. Soon thereafter, they realized that the car had a cracked rim. There was no other damage to the wheel, or tire that they noted, and they said they didn't hit anything with it or go off-road. They returned it to the nearest office, and picked up another car in its place. They were under the impression that was it.

The rental car company has now sent them a bill for just shy of $800. I've searched this forum and others, as well as NHTSA, and elsewhere. Yours is the only other case I have found. I know 2000 Nissan Xterras were recalled for a similar issue. I'm trying to find my in-laws a leg to stand on so they can fight this BS bill.

Does anyone here know if there are more cases like r8tdr's?

Hopefully they dropped it off and one of the rental agents looked at it to sign off that the truck was free of damage. They should have a receipt to show that. If they don't have the receipt or didn't get one, you may be out of luck.
Basically the receipt will show that when they left it, there were no additional problems from when they picked it up and that's how the rental places charge back damage.

Unfortunately, that's not the way it happened. When they noticed the crack, they immediately called the rental agency. The agent actually told them not to worry, since "it's only a plastic wheel cover". Fortunately, my father-in-law knew better! They took it in (or maybe even had it towed, I don't recall) immediately because it was a safety issue.

You own an Armada just to drive to church?? Thats a good one. Glad they are replacing it. :)

Would like to check my wheels next chance I get, spoke near the rim or near the hub??.
