Im guessing you don't have a valid reason for doing so or you would have posted it with your question right?

I agree I have no idea why you would want to do this, but most vehicles have a map system in the computer brain (PCM) which will have the actual mileage even if you could somehow diconnect the speedometer. If your worried about mileage just put the truck on jacks and run it in reverse for a few hours , I heard that works real well

I would think the only way you could do it would be to drop the drive shaft if you were doing a flat tow.

Other than that, I can't think of a way.

Ah come on, even if it did worked now ( which prolly wont) , the whole day will take 150usd in gas and will take care of 1000 miles. There's no damage whatsoever xcept for spent money lol. Its not like he was doing some off road racing or whatever.

This thread reminds me of a story that I remembered hearing several years ago.

A friend of a friend bought a high mileage car with the intent to wind the miles back and sell the car on for a nice profit.
It took him several hours to to finally get inside the dash and when he was just about to disconnect the speedo he noticed a small post-it note wedged against the back of the housing.

He pulled the paper out and carefully unwrapped it.
On it someone had written:

"Oh No... not again!"

:D:D:D

acutally, you can disconnect it. just pull the gauge assembly out. no biggie, you just have no speedo, no gas gauge. should work.

Again, no real good reason to do this. Not to mention it's against the law.

if you can ship it to Bahrain i will let my friend do it for you... and yes the only way to do it is the gauge assembly where the chips are and my friend has the tools to hack it and put any number you want... and yes it is illeagal to do so. he asked me to do it for my armada and i said NO. coz i don't want to sell it and i don't like people cheat me so i do the same for them. good luck.

I heard that if you get some wire cutters and cut every single wire that you run across then it'll eventually become disabled. Some folks have also said that leaving it parked works well too. I've never tried either so I don't know for sure.

I am closing this thread. Changing the odometer reading to show lower mileage for the purpose of selling the vehicle indicating lower mileage or to receive repairs under warranty is illegal. At CA we don't allow any activities that could possibly be illegal.
