I have an 05 SE that just quit running and stranded my family 2 miles from home. It will start up and just as quick just shuts down. The fuel system seems OK, by the smell from the exhaust pipe, and the coils all have 12 VDC to them. No codes show using the OBD II system. After a little cranking it will run extremely rough but the throttle will not operate while its trying to run. The symptoms are very much like the service bulletin from the wiring harness failure at the plug to the transmission but no dirt or moisture are evident at the plug. Need some help in tracking this one?

I just went through this on Tuesday. The truck started and immediately shut off. It would start and run rough for a few seconds and die. I thought it was the fuel pump. I took it to the dealer and they said it was the IPDM. This is a relay/fuse panel in the upper left above the battery under the hood. The part was $180 and the labor was $225. The fixed it the same day and it runs better than before. Apparently Nissan designed it so the individual relays could not be changed out, the entire panel has to be changed. If I k\had known what it was it is pretty easy to change out. It controls the fuel system and other areas.

I had the same symptoms on my Nissan Maxima, turned out it was the Mass Airflow Sensor. Another possibility is that you are out of gas. Our fuel gauges have been known to give bad readings, showing that you still have 1/2 tank or so, but really you're empty.

That's a scary thought... I've been trying to reset my odom each time I fill up not realizing that the gauge can be faulty.. No issues so far and hopefully that won't be an issue.

Welcome to CA wtminor!

Great post, I don't think that particular resolution of the issue has been posted before.

Even though the majority of owners have had no real fuel guage issues, there are a few of us who have had to deal with it. There are many posts talking about the fuel guage issue and below are a few. The first two links are the most comprehensive.
