: Question - Want to Install 2nd Row Captain Seats

We have a 2008 SE and we are having our 4th child. We really want to have Captain Chairs for the 2nd row, but I don't want to have the console inbetween them. It's easier to have 2 of the boys hop in the rear without having to flip a seat open each time.

I've switched out my bench for captain chairs in my Suburban a few years ago and it was undue the bolts, remove the bench and install the buckets. Real easy. I'm guessing it would be the same on the Armada.

Has anyone done this? Are there any issues in doing this in the Armada? Does anyone know how much the dealer would charge for the seats - black leather?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
pgaduane

If you just pull your center seat out, then you'll have captain chairs minus the armrests until you can get them switched out.

Thats what I did, the center seat just has 4 bolts and comes out in about 5 minutes and goes back in just as easily. That way you can add the extra seat back in when you need it.

all this talk has me salivating...

id like to get the center console for the back and take out that middle seat.

are you guys saying that if i DO take the center seat out there is no way to get arm rests for the captain chairs back there? :(

I don't think there is anyway to add the armrests but it looks just fine without them. Just takes a few minutes to get the seat out so give it a try and see if you like it.

Believe it or not I am sitting in the Cardiac Pediatric ICU at St. Joe's in Phoenix. My baby girl born 2/19 came home and the following day went to the ER. To make a very long story short. She had open heart surgery on Monday and now she's being treated for prenatal pulmonary hypertension in newborns. So we've been living in this room for the past 6 days.

As I'm sitting here surfing the net for every bit of info on my daughters condition I noticed my little bookmark "Armada Forum". And I go "hey, i posted about captain chairs for the 3rd row". Thought I would check it out and give you an update to what i did.

Before my daughter was born I removed the center seat. Mine had 6 not 4 bolts, but still the same in ease of removal. We bought a mat that normally goes behind the 3rd row - i trimmed if and placed it over the bolts I put back in place. Got what we needed. An easy way for 2 out of the 3 boys to get in the back without having to flip a seat. Cuz we all know they flip it the first couple of time, then it's jump over, its' easier.....

My wife asked about the armrests for the seats. And I just said - they didn't have them before. Because we had 3 boys setting there anyway. No way for the arm rest to be pulled down. So we're very happy with the very easy modification. I showed my neighbor who has an 08 like us. He took his out the next day.

BTW - if you want to check my daughter's update please go to andiegrace.blogspot.com.
