: Aftermarket Installer in Maryland

Hello fellow Armadians,

I am just joining this forum today for the main purpose of finding out if anyone knows of an after-market installer anywhere in the DC Metro area who has SUCCESSFULLY performed and headunit/speaker/amplier install on an 04 Armada with dvd and navigation.

I've read several posts from individuals who have done the upgrades themselves but someone who is as mechanically challenged as myself would not even attempt such a thing...I need to be able to drop it off, tell them what I want, come back and pay through the nose.

Can anyone give any recommendations? Preferrably in Howard County, MD.,
but I'd be willing to travel as far south as Northern Virginia or as north as
Baltimore if I know they KNOW what they are doing and wont wreck the
rest of my electronics.

Thanks,

Give me time and I will implement a catchy username, a pic of my ride, and a clever symbolic sign-off as you have!

Looks like you have some nice gear. Did you do the install yourself or did you have it done in Howard County somewhere? I noticed you didn't mention a HU upgrade...were you hestiate to do so because of how much it's integrated into the rest of the dash electronics?

The HU is forthcoming, we will incorporate the steering wheel controls. The one I want is expensive. Yep, I did most of the install myself. Tech12 built my under seat subs for me. Check him out for your audio needs:

Larrylevy,

I had my install in an 04 with Navigation. I got a false floor installed in the back as well. My stereo components are in my sig. It was done by Odenton Radio and Television. Its across from Ft. Meade. I also am able to use steering wheel controls. BUT, you do lose the factory DVD, but you can install a better aftermarket one (I have a M&D they will be installing for me soon, w/Nav-TV) also the Nav controls bascially have to come out. We routed mine to inside the glove box, so its hidden from site, but I can access it within the glove box.

Works for me!

If you are willing to travel to Northen VA. http://www.cartrendz.com/

Here is another, but they do not have a website. They are close to one another though.

You could try Big Boys Toys in Oxon Hill, MD. That is where I got my wheels and they do it all.

WOW! That's a lot of reconfig and sounds expensive. I was hoping it would be easier than all that but I was probably being naive. DAMN YOU NISSAN!

I work about 10 minutes from Ft. Meade so I may pop by there and get the
scoop. If I like what they have to say and only have to pay through the nose and not through some other more painful body part I may take a chance.

Cal is a great guy (at Odenton TV & Radio), he'll work with whatever budget you have you want to use and won't always use the most expensive brand names, but what he does works! And he stands behind his work. They've been there since the mid 50's, Cal took over from his Dad. Matter of fact I'm going to see them today, around 2 if you're in the neighborhood.

The config is very tuff, because the Nav controls are built into the radio controls as well as other things. So it makes it super hard to modify. A guy on Club Titan did do somthing but it was very difficult to do and he modified it himself. I'm not that handy. So I enlisted Cal at Odenton Radio & TV. He's a PRO! I can co-sign 9ballrook as I think I referred 9ballrock to Cal too. Mr. Cal as I call him is a very good guy, and very good at what he does, don't let the look fool you and that rural accent fool ya! :D

He'll get you square. Price wise, it wasn't that bad. I had the equipment already (which I bought alot of from him: amps, 2nd batter, rcas).

He just did the custom install of:

Eclipse Head Unit
CDT Speakers, Subs, & Upstate Kit
Sirius (Cal calls it Cyrus) :p
Custom False Floor w/2nd battery install.

The biggest cost was the false floor. I paid maybe 1200 bux and I got all the best of what he had in terms of RCAs etc. Again the box/false floor was the majority of that cost, as it took him 2 weeks to build. Fits in the back of the Armada as a fixture (can't be removed and hidden from thieves). He also created a custom cover for it, so I still get full use of the cargo area while protecting my sub-woofers, just not as much space (equivalent to slightly larger than a car trunk). I drove to Florida and my wife and I had no problems with all of luggage and extras fitting in the back. Give him a visit and tell him Mr. Bryce sent ya! Also tell his wife Mrs. Sharron I said hello and will be back soon for my DVD install!

I'll pay Cal a visit this weekend. Got a decent tax return coming my way
this week. I was tossing between a plasma for the basement or the upgrade.

Decisions, decisions....

Blackspyda,

Sorry for going off topic here, but, what is the decal on your back quarter window (as shown in your sig pic)?

BTW, your ride looks awesome. We have a black 09 LE with the chrome clad wheels and everytime I see your pic I get the urge to start the chrome upgrades.
