Never having had a big vehicle before just sports cars, is it normal to get such bad wheel rub than when the wheels are turned as far as they will go the car won't move forward unless gas is applied?

Have you changed wheels/tires? There is no rub with factory wheels/tires.

there is on mine, because i've got it bad when i turn the wheel all the way

If it is stock, there shouldn't be any. If there is, there is something wrong. If aftermarket wheels and tires, you may need to start cutting.
