Hey guys (and gals)-

Just installed the S&B intake last night. Pretty easy, straightforward install. Took under an hour.

Fired up the truck when I was done and the first thing I noticed was nothing. Just as quiet as beforee. I thought I had heard guys stating these were kinda loud, but I heard nothing different. Oh well...time to go for a test drive.

So I got it out on the highway and stomped on it.. HOLY SH!T!! There's the loud part! Going from stock to this was like BAM! Talk about mean sounding! I was so fixated on the sound, that I didn't really notice whether I could feel a gain or not. I think so, but I should have a better idea when I hook up my camper this weekend and go towing.

I do have a question. As I've enjoyed having my foot in it for the last couple of drives, I did notice something disturbing. Usually my Armada is super smooth on acceleration. I noticed that since I installed this intake, giving about 3/4 throttle at about 3k rpm's caused the engine to hesitate...almost a jerky feel to it. Sort of like it was surging between WOT and half throttle. This is not something I noticed with the stock setup.

Should I be concerned about this or not worry about it since I disconnected the Neg batt cable during the install. Does the ECU need to "relearn"?

Thanks for your input.

Joe

SVO4Turbo,
Although I can't provide any pertinent feedback right now, I also ordered an S&B CAI for my 07' QX56 from Burtman and should receive it in the coming days. Once its installed and running I'll let you know if I encounter any "hesitation" in acceleration at 3K RPM or any other unfavorable changes from stock.

Well I put my S&B CAI in today and I've got nothing but good news to report. The first thing I noticed was that it changes the sound of the engine completely during acceleration. You definitely notice an increase in HP, especially accelerating above 2,500 RPM. Installation was fairly easy and I got away without any cuts or scrapes.

I'll really be able to tell how the SUV performs over the course of the next week but all seems good so far.
