:confused:Just wondering what is the recommended setting for regular summer driving on the 4 x 4? Should I keep it on 2 wheel drive or automatic for everyday, normal condition driving? Would it save some wear and tear or gas to drive 2 wheel drive in summer and auto or 4 x 4 when needed. Thanks!!

I've noticed no difference. Traditionally on older vehicles, leaving it in Auto would've had some hubs locked or something engaged that's no engaged when in 2wd. But on these, all axles are spinning all the time so putting it in 2wd really doesn't seem to me that it does anything different than simply disengage slip detection. So, I've just been leaving mine in Auto since the results don't seem to be any different.

I used to keep mine in 2WD for the first year, but got confident after reading the posts here. I have had it in AUTO over two years now and it has helped when I needed it. No mileage change from it either!

Another always in auto.....did this w.our previous 01 Pathfinder that has the same 4x4 setup and no issues in 129K miles of ownership.

I use Auto when it's raining. Most of the time I have in 2WD. Our mada seem to use more gas in Auto vs 2WD. I do not notice any difference in the way it drives.
