: ARMADA PRG'd
ARMADAinSMOKE 07-11-2005, 12:47 AM Yup, my Armada had an encounter with PRG today. Greg installed a 2 1/2" spacer in the front and a new 2" spacer for the rear. The rear spacer installed is just a prototype so I am sure the production ones will look as great as the spacers made for the front. The front spacer is the exact spacer used on the Titans. I am not posting pictures of the front install as I'm sure everyone knows how this kit looks for the Titan.
The rear spacer was machined from an existing front spacer, thus the holes.

The rear spacer fits under the spring's bushing.

The spacer and bushing fit perfectly in the lower arm.

Greg recommends that the alignment be checked. I will do that as soon as I can, but it doesn't look as if the alignment is off at all. We were able to do the lift without having to change the rear shocks. The ride comfort of the vehicle is the same if not better. It has not bottomed or topped out on my test drive or my 1 hour and 15 min drive home from Greg's. This kit looks great! I am very happy with the lift. All I need are some more aggresive tires to replace the awful Contis that the Armada came with. Oh yeah, no clunks or any other noises coming from the suspension on the drive home. Please pm or email Greg your interest for this kit as I am sure it will be available shortly. Thanks to Greg and Jen!!!
92TripleBlack 07-11-2005, 02:00 AM Nice! I was waiting for the mini-lift! :2cool:
weezr17 07-11-2005, 10:27 AM HEY Armadainsmoke! Is that you in the PIC (the last one?)
I like you KSWISS! ;)

HAHA!! No, that's my brother. I couldn't find anything within arms reach to reference the gap so I recruited my brother. I'll be sure to let him know you like his shoes. :D
92TripleBlack 07-15-2005, 01:54 AM How much, how long, how hard, how does it ride, how noticable, how available, how about it? ;)
AZARMADA 07-15-2005, 08:42 PM Good questions!!!
ARMADAinSMOKE 07-16-2005, 01:07 AM It rides and drives great! The shocks do not bottom or top out so there isn't added stress on the suspension. It didn't take very long for Greg to install the spacers once he machined them. The front went on in a snap as they are exactly like the Titan. I haven't has a chance to take it much on really bumpy roads, but driving it down the end of Greg's street (dirt road), it felt really smooth and comfortable. It's only a 2 1/2" lift, but I'm pretty sure that an Armada/Titan owner will notice it. I'm sure it will be even better with off road tires.
As for all other questions regarding price and availability, I'll ask Greg to chime in here at clubarmada to address that.
ARMADAinSMOKE 07-16-2005, 12:29 PM Hey guys, Greg said that he will post more information on Sunday regarding the kits.
92TripleBlack 07-16-2005, 12:32 PM Thanks! :2cool:
Pwrl3ss 07-20-2005, 10:19 AM I got a n00b question; why 2.5" in the front and 2" in the rear?
Thanks
ARMADAinSMOKE 07-20-2005, 10:43 PM The rear was about .5" higher than the front in stock form. I wanted it to be even so we we put .5" more in the front to level out the Armada.
AmericanBedliners 08-24-2005, 01:22 PM How does PRG rear 2" affect Armada's w/ auto ride leveling? Are there any cautions to consider?
Thanks!

Good question. I wouldn't think so as the level system wouldn't react to the stance change, but the new parts may not be compatible with the system. If you think about it, the system has to measure the flex of the suspension, not the angle of the body. If it did, the system would be going crazy as you drove up and down hills. This is a body lift set on top of the frame and suspension.
Does everything clear and fit if you have the air bags?
AmericanBedliners 08-26-2005, 08:26 PM Thanks for the reply TrippleB. I am looking to buy an Armada this week to make a show SUV to match my other truckhttp://www.americanbedliners.com/images/Suspension_Lift_Skyjacker_Dodge%20Ram.jpg. I know on other vehicles I have lifted w/airbags, like the H2 Hummer, you need to put a spacers between the bag & the chassis. So far, I have not found a definate answer to that all too important question. , I am pretty much lookiing for someone who has doen a lift (PRG or CustomMotorsports or ???) on an Armada and what problem(s) - if any - have they encountered? Home made spacers would be easy to fabricate, but then Liability rests on the vehicle owner and not an insured manufacturer.
So anybody "Got Lift?" on an Armada w/ bags?
ps: Just so everyone knows, you CANNOT add a Daystar leveling kit to an Armada w/ airbags and expect the rear bags to level out the ride.
scr38 08-26-2005, 09:35 PM I think the auto level system will still work if you adjust the sensor. You will have to make a bracket to lower the sensor, or make a new connecting link that is longer, or make a new lower bracket that is taller. The system won't be able to raise the rear to level as much with the lift since the shocks are extended more.

tnbaptista 09-30-2005, 03:01 AM Hey guys, Greg said that he will post more information on Sunday regarding the kits.
Hello
This is my first post but I've been lurking for a while now. Any word when the rear spacers will be available and where to get them? And how are they working out for you?
Thanks :D
ARMADAinSMOKE 10-01-2005, 07:26 AM Sorry guys, I've been trying to get Greg over to this site and give more information, but he seems to be really busy right now. You're best bet would be to PM him over at titantalk. He's pretty good about getting back.
Chris03HD 02-25-2006, 09:11 PM WHATS THE GOOD WORD?
Any additional info, or is this thread going to dissapear like half the posts on this site?
SgtTurtle 04-16-2006, 12:49 AM Is this available, yet? I would love the extra 2 1/2 inches and don't think it would compromise safety or handling too much.

Got a reply from Gregg @ PRG.. he said he has installed about 14 or so kits for the Armada's already.. I would have thought we would have seen or read about at least a FEW of them, but oh well, just going by his word.
I asked about any negatives when using it on an Armada with load leveling suspension, and was told no, no problems to report as of yet.
When i asked about how, if at all, it effects the tow rating, i never got a responce back.
Chris03HD 09-21-2006, 08:18 PM bumping and old post....... still havent seen ANY others besides the original poster's.
SgtTurtle 10-08-2006, 10:41 PM Looks like they are for sale online:

Anyone know how well 33's clear w/ the MiniLift... Was thinking motometals and some MT's and a PRG minilift to give it a lil better look..
razzlee 11-06-2006, 03:09 AM Anyone know how well 33's clear w/ the MiniLift... Was thinking motometals and some MT's and a PRG minilift to give it a lil better look..
you don't need a mini lift for 33s. My wheels don't rub and they're BURLY!!
ARMADAinSMOKE 12-10-2006, 10:55 PM Hey everyone, I still have the kit in my truck. Everything still rides great. It was overall about a 2 1/2" lift. Stock tires are 33" so that won't be a problem. I am currently on 305/45R22 and have no problems whatsoever with rubbing. The Armada still rides smooth as stock, fits in my garage, better vision while driving and much easier to put the snow chains on.
Sorry for the late response!!!
Thanks,
Chris
Dustoff-00 12-10-2006, 11:01 PM Snow chains in San Diago????? Something has deffenetly changed since the last time I was there?

LOL!! Well, not in SD, but when we go up to the mountains to play in the snow.
Armada_24s 12-11-2006, 01:33 PM How does PRG rear 2" affect Armada's w/ auto ride leveling? Are there any cautions to consider?
Thanks!
Dan
i just ordered a PRG kit for myself and Greg said the kit does not affect the auto leveling system. We are still trying to figure out if 35's will fit, so if anyone knows let us know.
Armada_24s 12-18-2006, 02:55 AM I just installed my PRG kit as well just waiting for the rims and tires. One question though. Is your front a little bit higher then your rrear?
Chris03HD 12-18-2006, 10:04 AM What size wheels and tires now? Please say 18's with 35's or something offroad cool like that!
Armada_24s 12-18-2006, 12:57 PM 20" Black Rockstars with 305/55 20's I wanted 18's but those are on back order till march
Chris03HD 12-18-2006, 01:36 PM Nice! I want the Deisel 18's, with the biggest tire I can squeeze.
agtitan06 12-20-2006, 04:39 PM PRG's kit should leave the front a bit lower than the back. This is so the truck is still even when towing. I have the PRG Mini-lift on my Titan, and it was a 2.5" in the front, and 1" lift in the rear. If you go with more than 1" in the rear, you have to change the shocks (at least on the Titan)
NewbieDrew 12-21-2006, 10:13 PM Not too bad to install from what I read. I am thinking of going with the mini lift in the spring on the Mada when the Conti's are being replaced. I would like to replace the front shocks at the same time but am not sure if it is beyond a weekend warrior home mechanic like myself. Rear shocks no problem.
Does anyone know if the prg mini-lift decreases the wheel travel any? It changes the suspension angles to achieve the lift, I see.
I would have to think that the ground clearance and the approach / departure angles are better also?
I left a message for Greg a month ago - he must be busy with Titans.....
Seems like a good way to go to get a little extra clearance underneath instead of trying to fit 35's. (Like the tires razzlee...)
Love this forum and my hat's off to everyone in the military lurking here & merry xmas to all....
Chris03HD 12-26-2006, 11:24 PM 20" Black Rockstars with 305/55 20's I wanted 18's but those are on back order till march

clostoyo 12-30-2006, 02:13 PM can a mini lift be done a qx56? i know the rear has the airbags so just wanted toknow if it could be done, thanks
Chris03HD 12-30-2006, 02:16 PM Not sure whats exactly the same from the Armadas to the QX's, but PRG makes a kit for LE's with the air bag assist.

I was looking at the daystar, but have been trying to get more info. Anything you or anyone else can advise me on would be greatly appreciated.
Would like to go with 2.5 lift and at least 33's.
Armada_24s 01-05-2007, 04:17 AM I got the PRG Products mini lift and thats a real good lift for someone that doesnt want to sacrafice the garage and that doesnt want a huge lift. I am running 305/55 20s and no problems a little rub on the front but that was an easy fix... And no pictures yet sorry!!!

Triple92black as a 4x4 armada and he is running the exact same tires I am running and he doesnt have any kind of lift, Im not sure about now but when he first had them on he didnt have one. One thing that is different is that his rim is 20x9 oppose to 20x10. If you search his posts you will find one where he had to modify an area where there was a smal amount of rubbing.
Chris03HD 01-12-2007, 11:10 AM Oh, forget it already! :p
Ill be sure to post my PRG mini lift with KMC's when its together.

Chris03HD 01-18-2007, 08:32 PM Kiss off then dude. I was just yankin' your chain about the pics, and the fact you have time to post one crappy pic after all this time...

fftitan 02-06-2007, 09:09 PM So whats the steps to do the back? I received the kit but no rear instructions. It looks as if I just unbolt the lower control arm near the brake the spring will drop out and then put the spacer on the bottom. Is this correct?
NewbieDrew 02-07-2007, 10:37 AM I was curious about this too. Any weekend warrior mechanics that did this at home will hopefully chime in?
Armada_24s 02-07-2007, 03:52 PM There is the arm that holds the spring in place from the bottom un bolt that from the axle and it will drop the spring, then install the the prg block with the stock rubber seat on top then the spring. You will need jack to put back the arm to the axle.

norcal05SE 02-22-2007, 12:37 AM hey man, those pics above, that is with the 2.5 front/2 rear?? i was just gonna order the daystar kit this week, think i might get this one. looks killer, bro! wanted those black rockstars, but the wife wanted the deep water blue, and i think black wheels would look stupid on this color. but yours looks really good. are your nittos a 10 ply, or 8? hows the ride with those? thanks man.
NewbieDrew 02-22-2007, 02:03 AM Wow, that looks nice. I have to say, we waited a long time for those nice pictures, but it was worth the wait.
Sold me on the lift - it is sitting here waiting on the operator to install.
Rims look excellent - and love the tires too. Are the nittos worth the extra $? And what are the plys - top and side?
razzlee 02-22-2007, 02:09 AM Looking good! What is the clearance from the bottom of the running boards?

razzlee 02-22-2007, 02:11 AM Whoa!!!!!! how did THAT happen???
Armada_24s 02-22-2007, 03:54 AM Be honest I dont what ply the tires are but they ride great. If TribleB sees this help us out he more then likely knows. The lift is a PRg mini 2.5" front 2.2" I forgot what the clearance is from the floor to the board but I can still fit it in a garage. The ride is great guys no complaints it still feels stock to be honest with you.
norcal05SE 02-25-2007, 01:37 AM did you install the lift yourself? the daystar i was looking at installs in the coil, so you have to take the strut assy apart and install the spacer. i thought i read that with the prg it just sits atop the strut assy. would make install a lot easier. also, on the rear, did you need to remove the coils, or just drop the lower a-arm way down. and did you reaplce the rear shock? daystar says you have to, prg says no. thanks man.

norcal05SE 02-25-2007, 02:58 PM thanks, bro!!
SgtTurtle 02-27-2007, 06:55 PM Well, I just placed my order for the PRG mini-lift. Don't know how long it will take to get. I spoke with Jen at PRG and she thought they might be on backorder, but was not sure. She is going to call me back and let me know.
Once I receive and install, I will post before and after pics.
SgtTurtle 03-27-2007, 01:36 AM I am still waiting on my PRG mini lift. A week and a half ago they told me they had a quality control problem and had to send the parts back to the machinist. They told me they were hoping to ship last Monday, but the UPS tracking does not show shipment, yet. PRG is slow to respond to email. If I have time I will try calling tomorrow.
Chris03HD 04-02-2007, 11:50 AM Any luck yet?
SgtTurtle 04-03-2007, 04:18 AM UPS picked it up today. I should have by Thursday. Then I need to find time to install. PRG had some production issues. Apparently their machinist lost the CNC program and they had to take the measurements and recreate the parts all over again. I have been patient because PRG sounds kind of mom and pop.
I will post an update, as soon as I install.
Titan_Up 06-19-2007, 05:09 PM Ordered mine last Thursday. I don't want to be a biter, so it looks like I might go with the KMC Enduro's in black (17's) with M/T mtz's. I think it'll look sweet on the white Mada - only one way to find out though.
I'll post the pics when finished.
Chris03HD 06-19-2007, 07:26 PM Titan - that is going to be a VERY kick *** setup! Sounds like we are on the same page. :)

I will try and get you a side shot. The truck is level, if maybe a p-hair higher in the front.
When eyeballing the running boards under the doors, from front to back, they are level.
You also dont have to install the 2.5 front (for the 2wd) like I did on my 4wd. I wanted just a little more up front...
Visit PRG's site for more info.
2.5/2.2 - 2wd kit
2.0/2.2 - 4wd kit
NewbieDrew 06-23-2007, 12:10 PM Did the lift on our 4wd and it is level for day to day driving, but maybe with a full load it will squat in the rear (no rear air leveling).

So, as it turns out - I wasn't too fond of either of the aforementioned.
(M/T mtx's or the KMC Enduros) Sorry to let you down, Chris.
I ended up going with the Nitto MudGrapplers on the stock wheels.
I guess I'll just wait my turn for the Rockstars in 18" size. :-/
For now - I really like the look of this setup, but I will say (For good measure) that these Nittos SCREAM on the highway. Don't get me wrong - it's hard to hear myself think over my exhaust, so it's not THAT bad. But, at 40mph+ they are MUCH louder than the ProComp X-Terrains.
BTW - I'll apologize in advance for the crappy pic. It was taken with my Treo. I'll post better one's when I get a chance to pull the real camera out.

Looking forward to those pics. That is a HOT Setup!!!!:temphot:
Would you mind sharing the MPG that you're getting with those tires?? The higher gas prices have had me doubting whether I should go for that type of setup.

THanks Pops. I'm getting between 12.1 and 17.2 mixed highway/city driving.

No let down, it looks great!
Here's a photoshop of my soon to be powdercoated stock 18" LE flat black wheels, with my 33x12.5x18 TOYO M/T's and already installed 2.5"/2.2" PRG lift. :D

Titan_Up 07-03-2007, 10:29 PM Chris that looks great. Let me know how much it ends up costing you to powdercoat them. It'll look great on your truck.
I'm about to hook up the digicam and try to pull those photos off now.
Stay tuned!

Had to "adjust the levels" on the next two, so the tires and wheelwell wasn't completely black. (I haven't quite got the hang of the this Digital SLR yet.)

NewbieDrew 07-12-2007, 01:04 AM Looking great! Tires are sick!
TanK1 07-12-2007, 02:13 AM Looks good, so what's the cost on the spacers?
norcal05SE 07-12-2007, 03:18 AM seen em as low as 260 for the prg. the daystar can be had for 232, but heard much better response from the prg product.

WHere are they for $260? I'm thinking of getting some but can only find them from PRG directly.
Chris03HD 07-25-2007, 07:26 PM Unless you find them used somewhere, you can only buy them direct from PRG.
Daystar is junk, just do one search over on TitanTalk.com. They are rubber SPRING spacers, whereas the PRG are billet aluminum STRUT spacers so your factory ride remains pretty much the same.

I stand corrected. Now that I think of it, I think JerseyParts (Turnersville Nissan) also carry all Gregs products.
NewbieDrew 08-13-2007, 03:22 PM Right On POPS! You will love it when you go fishing and need to clear a log or stump. It will look great!

I'm anxious. It came in last Thursday and I'm waiting until I can spend an entire weekend on it because I'm guessing worst case that I'll need a whole day for the front and at least half a day for the rear. I want to take my time installing while having my 10yr old son learn how to work on suspension, hoping within the next weekend or two depending on the heat and getting other work done first. :p
I think you're right though, I've been pretty much avoiding anything more than a flat trail or lightly covered field so far.
Hahahaha!!! I just noticed you got the K&N Drop-in. I just installed one a few weeks ago, and putting one in the wifey's car this week.
NewbieDrew 08-13-2007, 04:58 PM Love the drop in for the price - instead of buying filters all of the time - reuse.
Good luck on the install. Get a buddy to help you with the front - it is a b*tch to put the assembly back inbetween the control arms after adding 2" of spacer. It is a lot of work but well worth it. You will love it.
Chris03HD 08-13-2007, 07:25 PM I did my 2.5" front on our 4wd LE by myself. A partner would have sped things along, but all in all the entire front, both sides, was around an hour.
carnagebeatz 12-10-2007, 01:19 PM Am I the only one that sees a rear sag? Can shocks correct that?

What picture are you refering to?
If the original poster, im guessing he didnt adjust his rear air shock sensor. (search for the pic's/how to)
My rear is level with my front, as I adjusted the rear a little higher, being I used a 2wd kit on my AWD LE.

If you have an SE w/ Tow Package or an LE, it's adjustable. The problem is with the alignment. I had to elongate the Spring Arm holes to get the alignment straight while eliminating the sag that I had.
Here's more details:

Chris03HD 12-10-2007, 01:48 PM I had to elongate the Spring Arm holes
The holes that attach the lower arm to the spindle you mean?
Ill have to go look at mine, I never needed an alighnment adjustment afterwards.
EDIT just clicked your link.. i see what you were getting at now.
rice8702 07-18-2011, 01:43 AM Anyone know how well 33's clear w/ the MiniLift... Was thinking motometals and some MT's and a PRG minilift to give it a lil better look..
I am really looking for this same look. Has anyone had any problems with runnig 33's or with the PRG mini lifts?
I ran 33's (325/60-18) under it just fine w/o issues. :D
