For those that have thought about adding the OEM Sat kits....here's my little rap on it.

I bought the kit from the local dealer who beat leesparts.com price...$254.00. Still need to get the proper antenna...another $75 online shipped. I had a lifetime subscription from the 08 Expedition that we had and was able to transfer it for $75....so total for me was $404.00. No monthly plan....good for life!

The over all install was easy...I didn't do like the instructions say (taking BCM off and removing the amp to mount it in the brackets that hold all that together. You have to move the pedals full forward and then loosen them up (without removing them) to get room to install the reciever. My SUV was prewired....as I believe 2006 on is. Not sure about 04 and 05.

I decided to mount it to the knee knocker steel piece behind the lower dash trim. I did do the antenna as instructed. Took about 1 hour. I will try to get some pics soon...just go dark on me quick. I may in the future mount it as suggested...but for now...this works well. I am very happy and now we are crusin to our favorite sirius stations!

So...my thoughts...go for it...its easy!:)

Here are the pics of the reciever mounted to the steel lower dash cross piece. Much better than taking the pedal, amp and bcm off and out of place.:D

I wondered what that cable was for.... Is that cable in the middle pic in your post the one that seemed to be attached to the accelerator bracket? I have that cable in my SE, and was just in the truck looking for a way to connect my portable Sirius radio in the Armada.

I assume the OEM HU should have a "SAT" button somewhere. If so, mine doesn't.

i think older models had a "software" sat button.. meaning you could cycle thru the inputs and it would show if the sat box was connected

On my Mada.....the Radio button doubles as a Sat button...and it show's SAT on my Nav screen. I just push the button till it says SAT.

Hope that helps!

Does the satelitte radio come in clearer then your regular radio? Im looking at adding the accessory option, just because I hate all the wires of the aftermarket radio... But I don't want to spend the money if the sat sounds crappy.
