I was doing a quick run to the store and my engine oil light came on. This was a few blocks from my house so I drove it home. I took a look and my oil is at the correct level and the Armada doesn't smoke. I know that anything to do with the engine oil is serious; however I cannot see anything wrong. I am at 50k on my 2004. What could this be?

I would take it to Autozone to have the codes read then search for where Scr38 posted the code lists as jpg attachments to see what it says. If you can't find the lists, just post the code and someone will chime in.

Have you unplugged the battery and see if it resets?

I have tried the code reader, but no codes are displayed.
I have tried disconnecting the battery, no result.

At his point I think it might be a bad sensor, because it runs just fine and everything is up to service.

I don't know where my oil temp. gage is only the trans. temp gage. Please advise.

Not the oil temp gauge, the oil pressure gauge. Its on the bottom of the instrument panel, to the left of the fuel gauge. Normal pressure is slightly above the mid point when the engine is warm.

sc38 thanks for your advise, I figured out that the oil pressure gauge was shorting out causing the car to think that it has no oil and the light to come on. This is due to a faulty gage cluster. I am so happy it wasn't anything serious. Thanks for all your help everyone.

Speaking of oil pressure questions, does anyone have the part number for the pre-leak down orifice model that gives true oil pressure instead of averaged oil pressure? I went to the dealer and they no longer show two part numbers from 2004-2005 then 2005 on up. I would like to know what my oil pressure is really doing vice what it wants me to think it's doing...
