2 weeks ago my wife's 06 Mada with power lift gate started making a terrible squeak/creaking noise. I lubed all of the weather stripping including the rear glass and door stirker, hinges and bumpers. The noise went away but came back a few days laters. Opening and closing the rear gate seems to solve the problem until you encounter rough roads. It sounds as if the door is rubbing against the body but I cannot find any evidence. The lift supports seem to be working properly and the vehicle on has 51k miles.

Try using some synthetic motor oil to rub on it and see if it lasts longer??? Maybe some of the weather stripping might need to be replaced???

Something else to think about is that soap acts like glue when it dries. Everytime you go through a high pressure sprayer, there might be a little soap seeping in somwhere and drying up. Maybe a good cleaning with some 409 might do the trick. :D

Mine has also just started doing this. It only happens when the door is almost at a closed position, happens in both directions (up and down), and sounds like plastic on plastic. I can't find any obvious rubbing places, but I haven't lubed the weatherstrip yet. Also, no noise that I've heard during driving. If you come up with a cause and fix, make sure to shout it out! I'll do the same.

Keith, if it's only happening while opening and/or closing, it's the support struts. You can put some WD40 on the shiny rods for a temporary fix to see if that's it then some fine bearing grease or that Equal-i-zer grease for a long term fix. I've been using a little Equal-i-zer grease here and there and that's some really good stuff. Expensive as all get out at $10/tube but it works for alot of things and lasts really well.

I also removed the screws from the stirker and applied blue threadloc and torqued them real good.

I layed back there while the wife drove and isolated the noise to the bottom of the door in the striker area. Does anyone know if there is you can adjust the striker ?

I don't think so... You might check the latch inside the door to see if it's loose since you already took care of the otherside. Another idea might be to pickup some 1/4" backer rod from the insulation dept at Home Depot / Lowes and use it for testing different areas. It might be that your latch mechanism or rubber insulation strip might be worn and need replacing.

Okay, figured mine out this morning, and completely user error. The Armada gets backed into the garage. I have a plastic bottle cap from a Sparklett's water jug hanging on a rope that tells us when we're in far enough for the door to come down. I'd noticed that it had gone missing a few days ago, and I couldn't find it on the floor of the garage or in the luggage compartment of the Armada. Turns out it had gotten wedged between the body and the hatch at the top, and was squeeking when the door closed. Pulled it out, and problem solved.

Sorry doesn't help you guys, but I'm happy!:D
