Im looking for someone who would be interested on trying to MOD a headlight for our Armada. To install some real Halo's on a blacked out headlight. I had one of the members on the Altima forum do it for me. Check out the pics. But I can't seem to find one willing to do it for the Armada.

Snizzle: the difference btw an actual retrofit and the one from ebay is the retrofit actually use the high end cars projectors and put them on the stock headlight. cars like BMW Audi etc...vs the ebay one. The ebay one arent really meant for really HID just for looks mostly.

Im not a fan of projectors. So im not really looking for HID/projector retrofit. Just real Halo rings being installed. I spoke with afew makers of the headlights. All there interested in are the same, projector with cheap halos.

i see my bad..i misread your thread. The halo 'angel eyes' can be bought on ebay and they are ccfl also. this will give you a brighter light. the installation should be straight forward. I havent done this to my armada but had created an angel eyes for my old prelude a long time ago. im pretty sure you can do it. it just take patience and a little courage. :D

what i did was: open up the headlight by using the oven to heat it up and pry it open gently. place the ring and secure it properly ( i used clear small zip tie in area that cant be seen. drills small holes on top of the headlight for the halo wires to come out. seal the holes with clear water proof caulking or hot glue. do a temp mount and see it before closing it up. i put it back together by using a hair drier to heat up the glue and then clear caulk it for a water proof seal (just being anal). remove access caulk. wire it up and turn it on.

Like i said i did this on my prelude a long time ago and never tried it on the Armada but i would assume the process would be the same. And im not sure what they sell on ebay is big enough to make it look right in the armada stock headlight.

I guess one of the guys on here would do it for you for fee.

It's been done... There's an old How-To on here somewhere using BMW M3 Halo for the mod. It was before we had aftermarket ones avail and it's alot cheaper and easier to just buy the aftermarket ones.

The look they same to me, but of course I was under the impression that they were much higher end than the ones on Ebay. And it appears you could run your HID lights in them. I have an After market conversion HID kit on mine, but the OEM headlights. How much difference would a retrofit or the Anzo's make? I can't imagine it getting much better than what I have done already. Or is the Halo just for show? Again I know very little about this, so just asking questions so that I can learn. I think the Halo's look cool.

To answer your question/curiosity: the Halo (aka Angel Eyes) is the light ring around the projectors. They are only for looks.

An actual retrofit is using the original headlight and modifying it with the projectors that come stock on the BWM, audi s2000 etc. This is what is consider a 'true' HID look. you will get the same light output and disperment as the stock BMW. As with the after market one from ebay or other supplier you will achieve the 'look' but the light output are scatter and there are spots in which there is no light output. What you have is just the HID lights in your stock headlight. of course your output lighting is better then OEM halogen but your beams arent concentrated. its scatter, it can blind on coming traffic. its easier to show with pictures. lol but i dont have any. hmmm hope that kinda help. :o:D

That clarifies things very nicely. So even the aftermarket higher quality projector lights such as the Anzo's are more for looks and are not able to focus the light and eliminate the scatter, like a retrofit would do? I looked at the Anzo's, wonder how the black ones would look on a Galaxy Mada with the chrome bumper and chrome mesh grill. Anybody have pictures with this combination?

ntrddragn....thanks for the info. it sounds like u know ur lights...i looked it up and thats alot of work. putting it in the oven, taking it apart, thats too complicated for me. im looking into getting the ones from ebay.....my question to u is what do u think of blue, red or maybe green halos. they got differnt color halos on ebay. i was thinking of getting the red halo..it'll give the mada a mean look at night. but the white halo looks more classy. what do u think.

yeah....about 2am the alarm went off..so i turned the alarm off, then turned it back on. (didnt wanna wake the neighbors) i looked outside and saw my window smashed in. i was upset. there was glass everywhere. i sat in the backseat and told my wife to go in the house to get the camera. i told her to take her time..i needed time to cool down. 10mins later 2 guys walked up to my car,1 guy looked around, stuck his head in and was reaching for my stereo.....i said u mutha F have the balls to come back and jack my S...im a big guy, so i know he was scared. i tried to grab him but he got loose. they jumped in a camaro and boned out. i started up my car and went after them... i floored it...i checked all the side streets, ran red lights and i caught up with them on the interstate...they were cruising. i got there plate#. den pulled up next to them. his eyes got big when he saw that it was me. he took off, i chased um...but backed off. i didnt wanna cause an accident. i called the police and had them deal with it.

thats my story....im impressed with the power of the armada. i had to slow down cause i kept passing the camaro.
