hello, i recently purchased a 2006 Nissan Armada LE and i am thinking about putting HID headlights in it. i was just curious if anybody knew an approximate price on how much it will cost me to get an HID kit and get it professionally installed?

The problem with that is you really aren't supposed to install HID kits into non-projector housings. It can create excessive glare that blinds other drivers, as well as scatter your light everywhere. Projectors are made to concentrate the beam and use a cutoff to manage glare (all OEM cars with HIDs use projectors), where halogen housings are meant to reflect and amplify the amount of light being put out by the bulb since it is relatively weak on its own.

In some applications, the glare is minimal and not an issue, but I don't know about Armadas, especially since they are so high off the ground.

I bought an ebay kit for less than $100 for my S10 (way low to the ground). And with the design of the headlight and low ride height there is minimal glare, but it's still not an optimal condition.

You can also retrofit a projector into your housing and then install HIDs, it's just alot of work and fine tuning to get it just right. Check ebay and you should find lots of used projectors from OEM cars that can be used as donors.

Good luck

Actually, quite a number of OEM HIDs do not use projectors. The QX56 and Toyota Avalon are but two.

I put HID bulbs into my Armada in 2004. They work well. Yes, I'd prefer a sharper cutoff, but it hasn't been a problem as they are properly aimed.

Welcome to CA armadadriverman and redxman!

There are many, many CA members who have HIDs installed. Check with our site sponsors Burtman or FontanaNissan for guidance.

Got my HID's from v-leds.com. Really no need to pay someone to install it unless your hands and forearm are really thick. Took at most 30 minutes.

I have HID'S AS WELL, THEY ARE FINE AS LONG AS THEY ARE PROPERLY AIMED DOWNWARD, THIS PREVENTS THE BLINDING.
