:mad:Why is the Driver Door shakes and rattles whenever i hit a (Maryland/DC) bumps/pothole etc?

ANyone else experiencing this? Is there a fix?

The Nations Capitol is not famous for its roads, then again, it could be cause of the poor shape they are in......

Any chimers out there?

These pot holes and road cracks in the DC metro area will brake your truck in two if you aren't careful!

My Mada used to have rattles all over the place (or so it seemed) I went under the dash and tightened everything I could find.. no issues with the door though (thankfully)

I have the same problem. Hopefully someone knows of a remedy. Its like the latch doesn't hold it secure and when you hit a decent bump it kind of bounces a little.

Mine rattle seems to come from where the seat belt goes in to the "B" frame rather than the door. Is yours the actual door? If it is bad enough, I'd suggest pulling the panel and checking around. While you are at that, it is always a good time to add sound deadener like dynamat. Not only does that help make your stereo sound better, it helps eliminate road noise and help with rattles.
Good luck!

I realize that this is an older post, but I had the same problem on my '06. When I would hit a big pothole, the doors would make a loud noise like the weren't mounted securely. All of the strikers mounted in the door jambs were fairily loose. I loosened all of them, pushed them as far as they would go in (towards the interior). This is to hold the doors in as tightly as possible and the body gap is set by the rubber bumpers mounted on the door. I have hit some good potholes since doing this and it seems much better.

It took a T-40 3/8" drive bit and a socket wrench. I didn't use a torque wrench, but it felt like I tightened to around 12 ft-lbs. If anyone knows the torque spec, please post and I'll torque mine down properly

Thanks 68 Bullitt. I still haven't resolved my issue and your idea sounds like it could finally be the solution!

Definitely not the window. It's coming from the jam.
