I have an 04 4x4 SE. The back up sensor stopped working a year ago. an I just noticed the pedal adjustment switch appears to be falling off inside the dash. Anyone else have these problems? I sure hope the back up sensor problem has something to do with this switch, I really miss it. The indicator light just stays on and no sound comes out. Any idea's?

I've been away for a while from this site but I still love my Mada. Other than this and the small coolant leak from the radiator cap and the front transmission hose leak, the rear window antennas keep breaking and I already knew about the brakes when I bought it, (was patient and got the factory upgrade, wore those out and now use EBC Greenstuff which eliminates the shimmy and keeps the dust down). The standard warranty has kept the maintenance under control til now. Hope the switch pack is fixable without replacing.

I fixed the switch problem. I had no idea those were indivudual switches and they simply snap in place. I snapped the pedal switch back in, works great.

The back up sensor problem is still there. I found a thread that shows how to get into the diagnostic mode. I bet diagnostic mode works great if the system is working! The "off" light stays on all the time and I assume my speaker is also shot, not a peep comes out of it, so the series of flashes and beeps in diagnostic mode simply cannot happen. My mada sits most of the time and we use it on long trips so this happened while it was sitting. One day it was working fine, next drive it was dead. All fuses are good, no other electrical failures. I will double check the rear to make sure the sensors are plugged in and report back.

In the mean time, does anyone know where the back up sensor brain is (for an 04)? I have a feeling the connector simply popped off or maybe the brain is bad.

It is behind the trim back of the left rear wheel well. See attachment.

The most common part that fails seems to be the speaker. It's also the cheapest and easy to replace part so do it first before placing the rear sensor brains.
