: Armada: What is this for??

Can somebody tell me what are those two thingies on the inside cover of the box for (see attachment - I am talking about #1 and #2):

I have 2004 Armada and was puzzled about these two things from the beginning. I asked reps from the Nissan's dealerships and they did not have a clue.

I tried to use the big holder for a DVD remote, but is does not really fit very well. The smaller hook I thought is for a pen/pencil, but it is also does not have a good fit.

Nothing tells about these hooks in the manual.
Please help me resolve this puzzle.

Seriously...one of those small travel packs of tissues would fit in there. I didn't even know those were there until you mentioned it then went and looked at mine.

I have wondered about this as well. Tissue pack makes sense...still cant figure out the other clips though.

Yhe one in the cover is for travel packs of tissue, the little arm is for standing up litter bottles of water. Or so I am told.

Are you sure you want to keep tissues on the inner side of the cover of the DVD system? Clips for the Glock??

I need a better guess guys. :D

I don't have a DVD player in there. But I do have my model 35 Glock in the console, with two 15 round mags.

The logical guess for the backside clip is to hold an extra cartridge of blinker fluid...my other guess might be to hold the tire pressure guage.

Let's keep this alive because I wondered the same thing. The travel packs of tissue could make sense, but what about the hooks or that arm that pops straight out of the front of the console? One member mentioned they were told it was to hold up a bottle of water but I'm not sure I buy that.

ROFLMAO.... So this is what GPS does for us...... It's for street maps, they fit perfectly in there. I keep my Texas, Florida, and Illinois maps all in there. From the replies, I'm guessing that I'm the only one who even still uses any paper maps. They're more detailed and I can see further away than on the Garmin so I still like to use them. - lol :D

That arm that pops straight out in front is to turn the cubby bin into a cup holder. It's for holding big gulp cups and bottles that won't fit in the standard cup holders. - I read about that one in the owners manual. - hehe

I use that little clip under the "box lid" to hold cash. The big slot I use for holding tissue.

Thanks Pops - I stand corrected! Seems kind of silly, but I'm no engineer and the cups I get at Wendy's (the LARGE ones) are narrower at the bottom to fit into the regular cup holders.

I've used some Thermos type mugs that won't fit in the cup holders. Keep in mind this SUV is designed after the Titan and some of these "features" are for people who use them to work in the field all day. With having to spend time out on my folks' drilling rigs every so often, I can tell you that these little things add up when there's no C-Store around within an hour or two of driving. :D

I uploaded the picture for this thread and attached it again here. Let's talk about slots #1 and #2 shown on the picture.

Keeping issue in the big slot #1 does not make sense to me. Imagine you need a tissue while you are driving so you have to open the lid and get a box of tissues secured in the slot.. too much efforts to get them. I'd put them in the open slot so I can easily grab them.

Keeping maps in the slot #1. Mmm, nah. You need to have a bunch of them so they would not get loose in this space. Plus the size of the slot does not match the regular size of the maps.

Maybe it s a good slot for a Glock, but I do not think the designers were thinking about that. You just might accidentally shoot yourself while driving.

I'm curious, is that a CW permit or do you need a permit just to carry in your states? Out here in CA it is hard as he_ _ to get a CW permit but you can carry as long as it is not concealed! They'll look at you like your crazy and harass you as well, but as was stated! You have the right to arm bears, :D (a little play on words).

I have a Texas Concealed Carry License. The license is retroactive in many other states.
(Of course, California is not one of them!)

same here. i have a concealed carry here in GA and is retro'ed in other states. recently (summer) we were able to allow CW on metro bus and rail cars... that was a big debate...

#1 works perfect for tissues, as that is what i use it for, and #2 could be anything that will fit i suppose

This space was designed for everything else us (men) wouldnt use it for!!!!

There was a female on the "Armada Designer Board" and she threw this "extra" in since it was a looooooong night...... so there you go!!

Let your wife/gf drive, and guarantee she will prove the point and purpose of these 2 spots.....

......... nope, am not sexist!

Are you suggesting the bigger slot is a good place for tampons? I believe they should fit in that slot.
And the slot #2 is the perfect place for a lipstick!...

Les7311

yup........ these slots were made for the females.

Everything else we own either goes into out pants, pockets, or in the dash (cd's)..................

Well, I tried to store the remote for the Armada's native entertainment system in #1, but I am afraid I can break it. I also keep a pen in slot #2.

I can't believe this hasn't been covered yet.... but I was told that the big slot was for a cell phone, the charge cord would run back to the small hook, thus keeping it out of the way of whatever is stored below.

...I would never use this... stupid place for a cell phone holder... but, there ya go.

(Never thought to put my 9mm clips in there....not sure they'll fit, but we'll see.)

Who told you that? I'd never put a cell phone there - the clips are too rigid that might break it. Was it done a specific cell phone?

I agree with you...I'd never use it either.

I agree about the cell phone & wire.. I think I saw it in a photo once for a brochure on the Armada. I found that #1 was the perfect size for my older gen 4 iPod...but I dont use it anymore since I have iPhone...

This makes me laugh. I have been wondering what those things were for.

So far, they have not been used at all. I like both the gun clip & tissue ideas.
