Hello everyone. Just purchased a 2010 platinum mada last week.
Have something thats been bothering me. I've used RP oil in my 325ci for 8 years now. an fully satisfied with that oil.
When i bought my mada last week. they gave me lifetime oil changes as long as i owned the car.
I want to put RP in my car, but worried that the dealership is going to use conventional oil.
I was thinking about doing an oil change in between intervals using RP. but is it safe to go back to a conventional oil?
Or since i'm getting free oil changes. save the extra money stick with conventional on this armada???
\Hope this makes sense to anybody. sorry for any confusions

Welcome to CA! You made a great choice in the Armada. I am a huge advocate for synthetic motor oil, as there is no better. That is all I use, but then I change my own oil. If they are willing to do oil changes say on a 5000 mile interval, I would stick with conventional motor oil and have them do it just for the fact that it saves you both time and money, and there is nothing wrong with changing conventional oil on a reasonable mileage interval. I don't want anyone's hands on any of my vehicles so I change the oil on my own. I have 65,000 miles on my Armada with Synthetic, and that is doing an oil change every 10,000 miles with a very quality oil filter, and no troubles. Contrast that to my 03 Altima with 181,000 on it, and synthetic motor oil in it, with oil changes every 10,000 miles and the transmission and engine are all original, and the only thing I have done to the engine is a cracked exhaust manifold, which I removed, welded, and reinstalled. I still drive that vehicle to work round trip daily, 100 miles per day, and it runs perfectly! I prefer the synthetic, but heck, nothing wrong with free oil changes if the oil is changed on a regular basis. It's all in what you feel comfortable with. Good Luck!

Welcome to the forum. Best one out there, hands down!!!

As far as your oil changes, will they let you bring your own oil? The risk there is that they take your oil and stick it in the back for their own car, and put conventional oil in anyway:(

I would try and bring in your preferred oil and have them use it also. I change my own oil, but in a pinch I will bring it in and have someone do it. I can see into the shop area where I go to make sure they use the oil I brought.

Bring the RP 5w-30 in to them and have them change it.... That's saving them $$$, so they shouldn't mind. Make sure to have them change your oil while you're under warranty so it'll all be on file. I've already messed up.... I have the 100k mile extended warranty and have been changing my own oil for quite awhile now and misplaced my records notebook last month so I'm pretty much hosed right now if I have any engine problems. Next round, I'll have someone do it who keeps the records in their database as a backup to the paper receipts.

I agree with everyone else here. Bring in your own oil and have them swap it out. I'd stick around during the change so you can make sure they are indeed using your oil.

Congratulations and Good for you on the free oil changes for life. I agree, take them the oil you want to use. A win-win situation.

FREE OIL CHANGE FOR LIFE  I would be at the dealer every 3750 miles as prescribed. I would take the money I would have spend on RP oil and I would invest in mods instead - That's I would do. At the first hint of some silly game by the stealer, I would tell him to pack sand and do my own RP oil change - That's what I would do.
