: Windshield leak and roof has been replaced?!?

Hello all,
This is my first post since purchasing a 2006 Armada LE last October.
We purchased from a Cadillac dealer as a used vehicle of course.

Everything seems good so far until the lastest rainstorm and noticed a couple of drips coming 'inside' the windshield on drivers side.

We took to the local windshield repair/replacement shop, they confirmed the windshield was not oem and was a replacement; upon further investigation made the statement that based upon the paint quality and a few paint chips in the roof that it had been replaced! We were shocked to hear this news!

I pulled out the carfax report again, which indicates an accident but no details, while the vehicle was still in the original dealership possession back in 06. Title does not indicate salvage, junk, rebuilt, etc. nor does the carfax. Further no structural or frame damage has been reported to carfax.

How can we confirm this? Is there any way that I could tell, besides the paint finish? This news is alarming to think the entire roof has been replaced, but should it be a concern? I contacted the dealer that we purchased from again and of course they have no knowledge of this, and further could not 'by law' give me the contact info of the previous owner. by the way carfax states 1 owner.

Just wondering the thoughts from the community? We really love our Armada and want to have peace of mind.
Thanks
Travis

Are the paint chips on the roof caused by the winshield replacement? Which could happen with an installer who is careless. Or did they say that the entire roof was replaced?!?

The chips are in the 'runner section' where the roof rails are attached, like in the bottom corners running down the length of the body.
Yes, this guy thinks the entire roof was replaced...

I would stop by a reputable body shop and ask for their opinion. They would know where to look and what to look for to see if it was replaced.
If it was replaced, they should be able to give you advise on the structural integrity and so on. Maybe that could help you out and give you the proof you need if you decide to persue something further.

Going to the local nissan dealer body shop this week...in the meanwhile, I checked all glass, looks like Carlex for doors and temperlite for back glass. I think these are OEM, can anyone confirm?

Also, the sunroof glass is saint-gobain sekurit?? is this Nissan OEM sunroof glass?

Thanks to all,
Travis

All of my doors are carlex. Don't know about the temperlite.

My parents rolled their new suburban and it was not totaled. The entire roof was cut off and replaced. Title was not salvage.
I would have sold it but they kept it.

I have an 05, windshield and doors are Carlex, all others are Temperlite and the sunroof is that weird name you mentioned. Keep in mind that IF the roof was replaced, that doesn't mean it was involved in a rollover. There are hundreds of scenarios in which the roof could be damaged and need replacing, just use your imagination.
