So after some initial frustrations, I got the Injen installed. Definitely has a nice sound on WOT. It is not obnoxiously loud.

My frustrations came from trying to follow the enclosed install instructions... but once I pieced it together and and then did my "own thing" it went smoothly.

I had to trim about ½" off the driver side breather tube or else it was pushing too hard against the tube and popping it out of it's lair.

Another thing was that the Power Flow box itself sat on the corner of the inner fender, even though it is solidly mounted to the vibra-mount. I decided to use a piece of double-sided stick tape and a piece of fairly rigid rubber to give it some cushion. I think Injen could easily engineer a rubber bumper of sorts that would screw into the existing hole for the old airbox rubber mount.

Question - The instructions say there is a C.A.R.B. exempt sticker included that has to be put under the hood in view of any emissions inspectors... I did not find this in my shipment. Anyone else get this sticker?

Anyway, here's some before and after pics... and then I am installing the new rotors and pads tomorrow.

Here's the little rubber bumper I made. Initially I put the rubber mount in from the stock intake, but took it out later and just left my homemade bumper there.

And 3 of the 4 the new rotors....

Hey, are those rotors cross drilled or just dimpled?

Lookin good tchjts1. I agree about Injen having their own bumper in the package. No sticker came with mine.

Hey, are those rotors cross drilled or just dimpled?

Those are the premium cross drilled/slotted rotors from R1 Concepts.

I just read a post here yesterday that I cannot find now... the poster, who seemed to be well informed, wrote (and I am paraphrasing here...) that cross drilled are really no longer needed. They were apparently conceived years back when using organic pads that caused outgassing (I think was the term).

With the innovations in the pads we have available to us nowadays, the holes no longer serve that purpose, and if anything, they are now just for looks. And since the holes basically serve no real functionality, it is now a loss of friction area and a susceptible site for cracks to start.

He went on to state that the slots still serve a good purpose.

So with all of that said, I am sure these rotors will still work just fine and will be a major improvement over stock.

I got cross drilled because I want as much heat dissipation as possible. Warped rotors are miserable and can cause problems with the steering rack, ball joints, etc.. so I don't want to have to worry about any warp again, especially like was on my OEM rotors. Just my $.02.... :D

Cross drilling actually increases your chances of warping. Mass has the most impact on heat dissipation, and cross drilling (especially a rotor the size of the Armadas) lowers that mass. Probably the 2nd most influential is the quality of the steel. These aftermarket discs may be made with higher quality steel, offsetting the loss of mass.

My $.02 (and pocket lint)

I think that's totally right. They feel nothing alike, not even close.
