I stripped a caliper bolt while changing brake pads and bought new bolts. How do you take the rubber boot off the old bolt without tearing it up? Or am I overthinking this?

Thanks

Just pull the bolts out. You may need to unscrew it if the threads catch. On the front, I don't recall even messing with those bolts because there's 2 different ones on the backside holding the entire caliper assembly on.

Are you talking about the slider pin bolts? As Pops said, they just slide all the way apart... but I can't imagine why you would remove those to replace brake pads. At any rate, while you have them apart, put a light coat of lube on the slider pins. I personally use a moly paste, but I know the manual calls for something different.

Because they're not holding your pads on. There's 2 other bolts on the backside of the calipers that are holding the whole assembly on.

They're part 41000A in this diagram.

Then you don't need to mess with those other two. The pads will just snap right out.

Yeah... except for stripping the bolt that you didn't need to remove. ;)

According to the diagram, I'm talking about 41131K, that's the one I stripped and replaced. Thanks guys. This is the best forum out there. The ones for my other cars, SMH.
