My Wife 06 recently developed an odd problem. When braking from 60 mph or more the steering wheel vibrated and has a shimmy. I was running Powerslots and factory pads. I pulled the caliper and pads and found no evidence of a sticking a caliper( no leaks, even pad wear) I figured I would replace the rotors as a precaution but kept the stock pads as they only have 10K miles on them. I just came back from bedding the pads to the new rotors and the shimmy/vibration is still there. I am stumped?? The truck has 60K and I checked the entire suspension and everything looks good. I would greatly appreciate everyone input. Not sure if the alignment could be the cause

Okay here goes, pretty hard to figure out without actually driving car,(1) so is vibration still there when you let go of brake it, should be felt in brake pedal (2)as for your shimmy is it during hi speed (balancing) or low speed (tire out of round) (3) check your front shocks also, as for alignment that should be okay but have it checked out anyway. If everything seems right try another set of rotors they do have bad days at factory or can go bad if not stored right

A common denominator here is the stock pads.
What rotors did you replace with? Powerslots again?
Did you clean the mating surfaces well before mounting them? When I did mine, there was bunches of rust and scale that I had to sand off before I mounted the new rotors. That stuff may not seem like much, but enough of a buildup can cause a rotor to not run true.

I have new bilsteins with about 10K on them.

I did sand and clean both hubs with brake and parts cleaner prior to the install. I guess the common factor is the nissan pads. I bought then new 6 months ago when I installed my power slots and every thing worked great for the first 10K miles. To make matters worse I just got back from dinner with my family and now have a really bad steering wheel vibration at highway speeds that was not present before the rotor.

If you have a vibration at highway speed on the steering wheel check the balancing of your tires and condition, also check your rim for the same kind of build up that you had on your hubs, try putting some antiseize on them. If i were you i would replace those rotors, should be warrantied from supplier anyway(no extra cost) and get new disc pads(your choice)so as to start fresh, by what i read you are doing this yourself so no out of pocket money which is good
