adjmcloon 11-16-2004, 02:13 PM Ok, I'll start. This thread will serve as a reference for all of us (particularly with the 2004 model) to solve the rattles and squeaks in our Armadas.
Here are mine (so far) and how I've solved them.
1. Rear Glass squeaking - A common complaint from what I've read. I simply took the soft side of velcro stripping, cut 1" sections, and put them strategically around the inside rear and side rear glass panes. I noticed some rub marks on the glass and that's where I started. Solved.
2. Rear gate or "D" pillar creaking noise, particularly when turning onto or off of an incline - Plastic has to be removed at the rear, and dynamat placed at the seams where sheet metal meets. Also where the rear seat belt spools meet the roof mounts, underneath. For me, it's 50% better.
3. Seat squeaks- mine started on the passenger side. Chased it down by using one hand to move the seat around while listening. Ended up pulling the plastic trim where the seat bottom meets the seat back, greasing it up, and putting it all back together. Solved. Driver's seat now doing it- will update the thread.
4. Window rattle at doors - sometimes this is confused as a door rattle- I have in channel vent visors, and apprarently they compressed the rubber weatherstripping enough to allow the window to rattle at the top inside of the door. Pulled the weatherstripping, dynamatted the inside of the window channel, put it all back. Fixed it for a while, but now it's back, so ?? More dynamat I guess.
5. Door rattles - Others have posted about a small gap between the door panel and the door itself. A small strip of dynamat or velcro will solve this.
6. Roof "Booming" noise, particularly on bad roads - there is a service bulletin for this- see your dealer.
7. Ticking noise that increases under load - this is a grounding problem between the engine and body. Run a 0 or 2 guage from the grounding block (just below the battery) to the engine block. There is currently a wire there that you can trace. I don't have this issue, but this method has solved the problem for those that do. Seems to be more prevalent in the Titans. I think this might get rid of my alternator whine- for you aftermarket stereo people I'll let you know.
8. Dash rattle - there are two of these it seems. One stems from the metal panel right at the windsheild. I covered mine completely in dynamat and it went away. The other is from the dash itself and seems to get worse with heat. If you've solved this, let me know please! I only have this issue once in a while.
9. Glove box rattle - some folks have had to tighten up their boxes, but usually this comes from stuff in the box. Silly, I know, but nonetheless...
So there's our start. When adding yours, you may number them to make it easier for others to indicate what they're helping with. Titantalk.com is a good source of info as well on other issues, but there's not a lot of Armada info over there and this site needs more traffic. Spread the word! Thanks to M4ck for the forums.
OffRoadinArmada 11-16-2004, 11:05 PM I have a long list of my own, but you have listed most (and I lack any solutions). But for the front seat squeaks, my dealer replaced my passenger seatback and is in the process of replacing my driver seatback. From reading what you have stated, they probobly greased it all up when they replaced the seatback anyway (kinda a waste of their money...).
By alternator whine, do you mean the noise that (I can't find a source) gets higher as you accelerate and vice verse, more particularly when the stereo is turned down? It sounds kinda like what happened when I installed an amp in my old Grand Prix... only I paid $750 for a premium Bose system this time

8a. Mine is an intermittent slight rattle caused by engine vibration between 500 and 600 rpm and mid-70F, or when cruising around 40 mph on slightly rough road. Cover on top of instrument panel and clips were already replaced but did not go away. This will be reworked at dealer soon.

10. Intermitent rattle from the sunroof area. This rattle resulted from adjustment of the sunroof due to wind noise. Dealer adjusted three different visits until it was fixed. Prior unsuccessful job included replacement of front center console.
11. Severe rattling noise from the steering wheel. This noise should up about the same time as when steering wheel vibrates when braking. A service bulletin took care of the vibration while braking and dealer was confident it would tkae care of the rattling noise, but it didn't. Both front brake rotors were resurface and new pads were installed. After 3 visits to the dealer, the rattling noise was caused by a slight play on the steering column joint which was replaced. Prior unsuccessful jobs involved replacement of steering clock spring assy and spline.
You are more than welcome. I am glad to provide a place for you guys. After all us Titan owners and Armada owners are almost brothers.
LOL

I've heard of dynamat but what exactly is it. Is it self adhesive with some kind of rubber or sound deadening stuff?
I'm in week three of a 4 year lease and the dealer claims there is no fix for all the rattles and sqeaks.
Looks like I'm on my own. I am pissed off that a $42k vehicle is getting all these rattles after 300 miles on it.
If it wasn't for the engine, the way it looks, and that I love everything else on this Armada, I'd get rid rid of it.
Do you have to pop off the door panels to get dynamat under there? Any hidden screws or hints?
Thanks, andy
Dynamat looks kinda like aluminum foil on one side then on the other it is self adhesive and looks kinda like tar. The sticky side is black a sheet of it is maybe 1/8th inch thick and conforms to whatever you stick it to. you work it into grooves and contours of door pannels or floors inside the vehicle. It does a good job of keeping noise in or out depending what your going for. Very good stuff I have used it on several vehicles first to kill road noise and second to keep the bass in the vehicle. there are lots of uses for the product. There are similar products as well. Dynamat is just the most used and best known.

12. Rattle from under the car whenever a door is slammed, tinny sounding rattle. Exhaust system?
adjmcloon 11-17-2004, 10:24 AM Actually, I mentioned dynamat just because it's the household name, but there are others that are just as good and less expensive. I bought "B-quiet" brand off of ebay. Got 100 sq ft (2 50sqft rolls) for $115 shipped. I still have 1 and 1/3 rolls after doing all 4 doors, the roof, and rattle chasing. It's the best deal I've found. Dynamat is pricey.
Bmoreno, let me know if they figure out that dash rattle. I have it as well occasionally.
Campfamily- maybe check your spare? Is it coming from front or back? The wife is always a good candidate to help with rattle chasing. :)

I've crawled underneath and had one of my kids open and close the door. The rattle is coming from the muffler. I just haven't figured out how to stop it. Perhaps I have a bad set of muffler bearings.
OffRoadinArmada 11-17-2004, 04:22 PM Another one to add to the list, although I'm not sure if it is technically a 'rattle' or a malfunctioning part... Dealer will have to figure out in a few days

Mine does the same thing, sounds like something in the HVAC system under the dash is trying to move, and can't. I also noticed that I can induce the sound by turning on the defroster. Will have the dealer look at it at my next oil change.

When dealer claims there is no fix for all the rattles and squeaks, they are in for trouble. Call Nissan Motors Consumer Affairs and report your gripe. The tel# should be in your manual. Majority of my problems were in squeaks and rattles, too. Document all your problems because somehow you will need it when you file a claim against them.
bmoreno 11-18-2004, 09:04 PM I just want to share my disappointing experience with my 04 Armada. I have owned 3 Nissans, 2 Hondas, a Toyota and a Plymouth. This is my worst ownership experience and it is in the process of a lemon law claim for exceeding 30 days in shop for repairs.
Below is a list of all the problems I had, or still have. If you find that a problem has been fixed, you may call the dealership (Hills Nissan in Winter Haven Florida) directly for details of the solution, or send an email to me.
1. Wind noise coming from sunroof. FIXED by adjustment of tilt at close position.
2. Left rear quarter panel had paint fading or mismatch. Later found more dull (fade) spots. Spots are apparent when sun is approximately 45 degree off perpindicular. Color of vehicle is Lightning Silver. FIXED. Repainted affected areas.
3. Rattling noise from driver side front/rear door. FIXED after 3rd attempt - Applied insulation damper between door and door panel on driver's door.
4. Driver side door weather seal strip is distorted/warped. FIXED - Replaced weather striping. The weather strip was not in stock and it took 2 months to fix this problem.
5. Rattling noise from sunroof area. FIXED after 5th attempt - Adjustment.
6. Sometimes steering wheel vibrates when braking. FIXED - This is a service bulletin requiring resurfacing of both front rotors and replacement of brake pads.
7. Rattling noise from steering wheel when hitting bumps or rough road. FIXED after 3rd attempt - Final repair was replacement of steering column U-joint.
8. Rattles from instrument panel caused by vibration even from idling engine. After 3rd attempt, problem still persists.
9. VDC / SLIP lights are on. FIXED. Nissan Motors was involved in diagnosing this problem. Steering angle sensor and brake module were replaced. Brake module sensor was not readily in stock. Had to borrow one off the new Armada in the lot for testing. It took like 2 to 3 days to rush delivery a new module to dealer. 18 days in shop along with other rattling issues.
10. Rear hatch window seal water leaks. FIXED - Tightened window brackets and replaced weather strip.
11. Cold air blows even when AC switch is turned off. FIXED - Problem can not be simulated.
12. The rear roof rack brace is coming apart. FIXED - Replace front brace.
13. The 2nd row seat on driver's side will not flip over (to access 3rd row seat). As of this writing, this is scheduled for repair next week.
Altogether my Armada has been in the dealer's shop for 37 days. Quite disappointing for supposedly higher quality and dependable Nissans out there.
OffRoadinArmada 11-18-2004, 11:42 PM As to your leak in the cargo area, I had the same thing. They replaced the warped weather strip. Now it is starting again, as well as the far rear right window. Anyone else having this problem??
llajumpvid 11-19-2004, 09:31 AM bmoreno, I feel your pain. I've had mine for 6 months, the dealer has had it for probably a total of 1 month and the only thing theyv'e done (half a$$ed) was the resonance fix, which they didn't glue the front bow behind the sunroof and I can see it is seperated? They replaced the rear overhead console, the rear controls are now falling out and there is grease smeared on the headliner. The sunroof rattle has be in for a fix 6 times and nothing is ever done. $43k never again for me. If they get rid of the problem rattle I'd be happy.

Folks, it's interesting to know that some, if not most, of the issues I have with my Armada are common. With Nissan monitoring this site, how can they not fix these problems efficiently? I guess squeaks and rattles, leaks from seals, and other minor interior and fit problems, etc., are not justified for service bulletins. That makes me believe the quality standard and customer satisfaction is not quite important anymore.
BTW I have an SE OFFROAD, Silver Lightning, 2nd row bench, leather, tow package, journey package w/o DVD & Navi. Got it for $38K in 02/2004.
OffRoadinArmada 11-19-2004, 11:52 AM I'm in high hopes that Nissan is going to find out how to fix most/all of the more prominent issues and offer tsbs in the future. From what I hear (new to the 'new vehicle' scene), it is not uncommon for manufacturers to take a few years to fix all of the bugs. I just hope that Nissan doesn't forget about their guinea pigs.
But back to complaining, now I have an annoying rattle in my dash that only shows up over bumps. Where I live, the highways are even bumpy as hell, so needless to say I hear it all the time (and working at a construction company with extremely poorly paved roads, although really fun, brings out just about every squeak she has).
EDIT: Reguarding time in dealership, I have had her in about 9 or 10 times now (excluding oil changes). Everytime she has been in, she has stayed for at least 2 days, usually 3 or 4. Fortunately, I purchased the Gold 7-year warranty, so I get picked up, a rental (usually a medium car or small suv), and dropped back off for free. While it's sad that I know the local Enterprise rental employees by face, for those of you in the process of purchasing an Armada, I would highly suggest some sort of warranty (that is, assuming that you are as nit-picky about your $36,000 SUV as I am :p )
SykoArmada 11-19-2004, 03:37 PM Gang, new model years are tough to get all the quirks worked out before the vehicle sees production. Working for a third tier auto supplier I tend to see the need for rapid turnaround in order to compete. Then they will fix them on the fly at a later date.
I guess that I can deal with some cosmetic issues and other misc stuff. I mean these vehicles aren't Cadillac's and Navigators. By far this is much better than my 2003 Ram was. My Ram was one of the 1st Hemi's to roll off the line in St. Louis and I had nothing but powertrain issues. I would rather deal with a few creaks and squeaks than issues with the motor or powertrain. Even with the small stuff, I love this thing and won't go back.
OffRoadinArmada 11-19-2004, 04:00 PM That's a good point, Syko. Actually, that's one of the main reasons I bought the Armada, I figured Nissan would build a solid powertrain. Hopefully it will stay in as good of shape as my mother's 15 year old 240sx... only problems just started to arise in the last few months, and even those are minor.
dinger 11-20-2004, 12:32 PM I purchase a 04 LE about two weeks ago and already have over 1200 miles on the vehicle. I had an aftermarket DVD with 10 inch screen installed. Since then I have had the overhead squeak/rattle issue, but it only occurs if the road surface is not smooth. On smooth roads it is not apparent. I went to the site Nissanhelp.com and noticed that there is a supposed fix for the overhead console. I have not had a chance to get the vehicle to the dealer to get the fix accomplished. I'm hoping that they will fix this as a warranty issue. I am concerned that they will give me grief because I have altered the console by installing an aftermaket DVD monitor. I will approach them after the Thanksgiving holiday since we are taking the vehicle on a road trip. Other than that issue I have loved the vehicle. I'm sure a few more creaks may become more apparent over time but I am hoping these items will be worked out.

You should expect grief. I went through hell getting the resonance fix because they said my 7" monitor was the problem, the headliner was entered without a certified tech present, blah blah blah. Finally after giving the GM my letter of complaint they said I was getting the run around due to a lazy tech. I gave them proof my monitor weighed less than their stated max 1.5lbs. They did the resonance fix half a$$. I still have resonance somewhat because for whatever reason they didn't fix the front bow behind the sunroof which I can see is seperated from the roof. I don't know how connected that is to the constant rattle from over the passenger seat in the sunroof shade. I asked for the bracket and they said no it's only for factory dvd's.....I checked with GregV and he said the price was like $500 list and he could get it for like $360 if I remember correctly. Its a $50 part at most and probably cost $3 to make.
So good luck and I hope you get them to provide it, but prepare yourself for "sorry we can't do anything"......
dinger 11-20-2004, 09:32 PM I'm tempted to bring with me a print out of the fix from Nissanhelp.com just to emphasize that the fix can be done.
adjmcloon 11-20-2004, 09:45 PM Sounds like your dealership really sucks ***. I've been pretty fortunate with mine.
No others nearby huh?
OffRoadinArmada 11-21-2004, 12:54 AM My dealership gave me a LOT of crap until I called up Nissan USA and complained. Then when the techs started into it again, I mentioned the TSBs from online and offered to bring my printed copies. Man did they offer the fixes quick...

I told my dealership about the roof noise and they "checked" and stated that it was regular road noise and it was fine.
Naturally I was pissed, but a friend of mine asked me if there was a tsb for my problem and if so they are obligated to fix your issue. The important part is that you make sure they understand that you noise comes from rough roads( and tell them where in that area to test your truck if they give you a hard time) and not the test drive road they take us all on to sell this truck.
Secondly,I have an after market dvd installed and the roof job done and it make a world of difference when it is done correctly, but understand there will still be cabin noise but atleast now you ear won't bleed :D
OffRoadinArmada 11-21-2004, 07:57 PM I think the cabin booming all depends on the individual.. Mine was distinct, but only gave me a minor headache after a while of rough roads. After the TSB, I don't even notice it anymore.. But then again it all depends on the individual. Heck, half of my family never noticed it from the get-go (how, I have no idea).

As of 12/06/04, my Armada has been in the shop for 51 cummulative days. I added more problems when I turned it in 2 weeks ago:
14. Booming noise from roof on rough roads.
15. Pinging noise from engine while idling.
16. Dealer related problems - Finger marks in interiors and ding on driver side door.
Finally, Nissan offered to repurchase my 04 Armada during my BBB arbitration hearing. I'm glad my disappointing experience is over.
Does anyone have a quick/cheap fix for the sliding shade that rattles like crazy. I find myself closing and opening it constanly trying to find a position so it stops rattling.
The dealer said it's normal. That's kind of a lazy answer for $44k vehicle.

No, I've been in 5 times for this and other fixes and its still on the list for my Monday visit (along with 14 other things). They will fix it this time or no more Mr. Nice Guy
I think they need to pull down the headliner....finish fixing the roof TSB that they should of done the last time and take a close look at the shade. The DVD monitor bracket tsb would also likely fix it too.
I have some foam wrapped around the monitor wire and I have it placed (by accident) such that it hits the shade when it's about 2" from all the way open. This has reduced the noise considerably but its still there.
It seems like it's just the shade jumping around a rattling. i thought about stuffing some credit cards in there just to see if the rattling would go away. Is it really related to the TSB for the DVD headliner thing? That would suck to go through all that.
Maybe I'll just get the caulk out and seal the whole damn thing. Who needs a moonroof??
BlackSnake2001 12-20-2004, 11:34 PM I'll add to the drama.. I posted this over on the NTF forums but I just found this site!
1.) Window makes a clicking or cracking noise when it's all the way up and you hit certain bumps. It also feels loose when it is 1/2 way down.. I believe both of these are related to the same problem because if I hit a bump while the window is 1/2 or 3/4 down, it rattles.
2.) Sunroof area is making some noises when the sunlight cover is closed. If I open the cover there isn't a rattle. I'm not talking about the physical sunroof, I'm talking about the headliner portion of it. I'm pretty sure this has to do with the fact the headliner doesn't seem to be attached to the top of the truck. Looks and feels like the entire thing is just floating. --> I beleive there is a TSB out for this and the DVD monitor shake!
3.) After a few minutes of driving, both doors seem to make some god awful squeeking noises like something is off. It's hard to describe but I can't live with this noise. I can live with problems 1 and 2 easily. This sounds like the damn truck is twisted or something. It's like a creaking, moaning noise coming from both front doors over any minute imperfection in the road. It makes a noise ALL the time basically. This is not the famous door rattle that goes away with your arm on the door.. This sounds like a creaking of the body. I've heard to check the CAB bolts? Some Titan owners recommended this but I haven't looked yet.
I just wanted to see if anyone can chime in on these... The 3rd one is the main problem. I'm going to experiment and see if it goes away with the window down or cracked... All I know it that it is very annoying ..
Thanks guys.. I look forward to being a part of this community.

Glad to see you here shawn. I think I've seen you post over on TT before. Hopefully this forum will become a great place for you Armada owners. Good luck with the rattles and creeking. Fun trying to nail these things down sometime.

I've got the exact same noises coming from moonroof shade slider and both doors.
I did the dynamat thing and still have noises. I noticed that when I took the arm rest and screws off, the noises went away. So I am now driving around without armrests or screws holding the door panel on. But at least it's quiet and peaceful when I drive.
I'm not sure what to do because I gotta put the pieces back on some day....
Update: I finally got rid of both side door noises. The Drivers door was making a cracking sound near the window/door lock switches. I pulled the door panel off, and found the cut out for the switches to have a bunch of rubber and plastic pieces that were cut unevenly. I took a razor out, trimmed off all the excess rubber and plastic, stuck on Dynamat where all the excess stuff was. Mainly along the edge that sits on the rubber channel along where the window is.
On the passenger side, the noise sounded like someone pulling velcrow apart over and over again. Or a sticky sound. IT was coming from the back of the armrest. So I pulled off the door panel and ripped off a piece of foam about 6"x12" with a semi-sticky backing that was stuck onto the clear plastic. Now that noise is gone.
Moonroof-wise, I've had rattling non stop and have to keep opening and closeing the moonroof shade to stop it. So now I have a bunch of card board cut into strips wedged between the shade and the headliner. Noise is gone but I can use the moonroof. Not sure what to do with this one.
Anyway, I love my Armada again. It's so peaceful to drive with out noises coming from all over the place.
Anyone know how to take the moonroof shade off?
llajumpvid 01-01-2005, 12:06 PM My sunroof shade does the same thing. In addition the drain assembly is broken so it bangs up and down...They were suppose to order new track assembly and the drain assembly so if they ever come in I'll let you know if it fixed anything. The only way to take out the shade is to take down the headliner. I suspect some of my overhead noise is from the front roof bow that they, for whatever reason, didn't glue when they did the roof fix and I can see it is seperated.
That would be great if you can report back moonroof rattle results from dealer. I have paper/cardboard drywall shims shoved in all around between the shade cover and the opening. No more rattles, but no more working moonroof either.

Well at least I can report one piece of good news from my latest shop visit. They replaced the sunroof track assembly and that cured the irritating sunroof rub/rattle. However I now have a new rattle coming from the passenger side....I'll have to ride shotgun to find where for sure but it seems to be coming from between the doors. It's less irritating than the sunroof rattle was and seems to be in an area that I might be able to kill myself.

That rattling on the passenger side is the long plastic strip on the door panel that is next to the window. Grasp it hard and the rattle goes away. Mine is rattling on both sides and nissan said they can't do anythign about it till a TSB comes out. I'm like can't you do some custom work?! I told them to yank it out but theysaid no also. That plastic piece is annoying as *!@J$@#@. It's cheap as hell! I hate it so much!
llajumpvid 02-13-2005, 11:20 PM After 10.5 months I am rattle free finally....(hopefully for good)
The remaining rattle was one of the following as these are the following places I took action on.
1- I took down the trim piece between the doors on the passenger side (the top piece behind the seatbelt anchor) and taped the bottom edges with gaffers tape. Gaffers tape is just a cloth tape that doesn't leave a sticky residue. I then zip tied and taped down anything that moved behind it. When I reinstalled it I made sure it was up tight against the headliner. When they replaced it there was a slight gap along the top and I suspect could of allowed some rubbing going on there.
2- I put some sound deadening material just below the bottom seat belt anchor so that there isn't very much play in it.
3- I put deadening material around the top edge of the passenger seat back inside foot trim piece. And zip tied the crap out of the wires under the passenger seat.
We went for an hour drive an I can't tell you how nice it was not to feel like I was riding in a wooden wagon pulled over rumble bars :D . Hope this may help some of you that have the rattle bug too.
Now if only I can get a functioning passenger seat airbag sensor I can fully enjoy the ride.
MichaelM 02-16-2005, 02:39 AM I have a 2005 LE and there is a rattle in the mechanical lift on the rear tailgate. i took it to the dealer in Long Island and they have "fixed" it. there is still a very faint rattle, but I need to troubleshoot it to make sure its the same thing causing it.
gergo 03-29-2005, 11:47 PM Have one remaining noise we can't fix yet. Knock or tick in drivers door. Can make it go away by tapping down on window control, but that brings a little air noise into play.
OK - there is another one. Squeak during cold whether when going over large, dull bumps like speed bumps. Seems like it is coming from front end.
Dealer fixed one that was really annoying. Squeak coming from front end once car was warmed up. Radiator cap was rubbing against hood.
Any thoughts on first two would be appreciated.

I have that exact same problem. I do that and it goes away. I bought my car in yesterday to the dealership and they replaced the seals around the windows according to the TSB but it didnt' fix it. It's the same sound and everything.

At least your dealer tried to fix. Mine told me it was because I tinted the windows. Only problem with that excuse was that the noise started before the windows were tinted.
In my never ending quest to get rid of my window/door rattle tapping noise, I found this TSB for 2003 Nissans/Infiniti's
Do you think this is what the source of the noise is? It looks like a pain in the butt, but I think I'll try it.
adjmcloon 04-20-2005, 11:51 AM Could work. It's got to be in the window rails somewhere. My passenger side (Front) does it bad. By the way, I noticed that as the window slides into the very top of the door, there is a some flex as it goes into the top of the door frame. Perhaps rolling the window all the way down and pulling on the top of the door frame (outward) to line everything up will help? My theory is that the window gets put in a bind when it goes into the top of the door frame, and it's enough stress to make it rattle against the rails. My driver's side is lined up and doesn't make the noise at all.
Question, does anyone have this issue with the back windows? I've noticed that mine roll down smoother, and I don't have the noise with them.
jodonnell 06-08-2005, 09:12 AM Hey guys I just bought an 05 SE and the passenged side seat was squeaking from day one. I noticed that when the arm rest was up it did not squeak. I put down the rest and the squeak returned. Just a thought because I do not see this one listed and may solve someone's problem. I think it is the arm rest hinge. I will lube and see what happens.
jiw62 07-07-2005, 11:47 PM I'll add to the drama..

I had a funky noise in the back passenger door, it was like a swaying noise, had to do with alignment of the door hinges, discovered at the third attempt.
ctarmada 07-23-2005, 07:17 PM OK...been to the dealer 7 times for the same rattle in the drivers door. New regulator and motor and have done everything in the Nissan bulletins...dealer at a loss. Nissan possibly to send one of their "special" engineers" to look at problem. I hate driving this vehicle!!!!! Does anyone think I can file a lemon law case?????? Has anyone gone through this??? Any feedback would be appreciated!!!

I too have been to the dealer many times for the door rattles. I keep trying the different fixes and tsb's but the rattle just moves to another spot.
I don't think you can file lemon law for a rattle.
I wouldn't mind Nissan trading me for a new Armada that has no rattles though. But don't want any other SUV.
markincc 11-11-2005, 04:10 AM I just want to share my disappointing experience with my 04 Armada.
Quite disappointing for supposedly higher quality and dependable Nissans out there.
what did they find with your acnot turning off? i have the same problem and they tell me it's my imagination. We just got a lawyer and are trying to have nissan buy it back and give us a new one. ours is a june 04 build and has issues galore with the rattles and vibrations
ctarmada 11-12-2005, 06:57 PM After having my 2004 Armada in 8 times for a door/window rattle and filing numerous complaints with Nissan, Nissan had a engineer fly in from California who eventually replaced my door panel...it worked! I am now rattle free for 2 months after 8 months of hell........

Squeaks Anonymous
This is a very happy occassion. My name is Fl_Crushin and I have been squeak free (duplicatable) for 4 months.. I love my Mada. Now who's next.
Actually I still still have the one intermittent squeak my Mada was born with in the sunroof, but I have figured out how to duplicate it now, so I'll be ready when I take her back to the dealer. The two times I've had the truck in, they haven't been able to reporduce the squeak.
deryck67 07-10-2006, 02:01 PM OK I have experienced most of these issues and gotten rid of most of them except for a mouse like squeeking that seems to occur in the back of the car when I go over bumps. It seems that most of the squeaks talked about on this thread are for the front seat/area. Has anyone had any issues with a squeaking coming from the back area of the car. Any help is appreciated.

Any rear end squeek from going over bumps is more than likely to be a suspension/lube issue.
DocHarley 12-09-2006, 09:21 AM Well my first problem has arrised. Belt squells during cold-start. Guess I need a new belt. On the good side, My 2006 Lexus has been in the shop for 4 squeaks. It's not only Nissan who has these issues. Want a trouble free ride? Drive a Harley!!! roflmao
Cillyone 12-09-2006, 10:03 AM Want a trouble free ride? Drive a Harley!!! roflmao
It actually has to start up and run and to have problems. Oh right, I guess it could leak just sitting still, your lucky. BTW, you "ride" motorcycles, not drive them.
marctronixx 12-09-2006, 11:00 AM technically there is a harley davidson truck albeit its made by ford... :p

you might not need a new belt they could just tighten your tension pully and that should stop the belt squeal
bloco 02-04-2007, 12:32 AM I've got an 06 Armada and I may have the same problem most of you may having. When you all are referring to a rattle in the doors I have more like a squeaking like rubber not quite sealing correctly. In fact I siliconed the seals around the affected door and it helpled tremendously but did not get rid of the noise. Any of you have the same problem. Thanks in advance.
kmchby76 01-31-2008, 11:39 AM 8. Dash rattle - there are two of these it seems. One stems from the metal panel right at the windsheild. I covered mine completely in dynamat and it went away.
Did you remove the panel and dynomatted it? If so, how hard is it to remove the panel. I can no longer just ignore the rattling. Thanks.
gbertsch01 02-15-2009, 10:05 AM I took my Mada up skiing and on it's first road trip yesterday, was the first time I rode in dead silence because the family was sleeping... 2k miles on it after 6 weeks..the rear passenger door had so much wind noise I thought for sure the door was open..and the squeaking was out of control, I almost lost my mind, seems to be coming from the roof racks, I tried to get up there and shake everything but couldnt find it, bascially only hear it when you hit some bumps (real soft bumps does the trick). Gonna call the dealer in the morning and bring it in, I can't deal with that squeaking.
gbertsch01 03-05-2009, 04:19 PM I think i've isolated this annoying squeak..went under the steering wheel area and started pushing / poking every piece of metal i could find...theres that one main box where all the electric comes into at the far right, its by far the biggest metal box there ....pushing and tapping it gently and there was my noise..i'm almost certain that's it. I dont know it's formal name but i've gotta figure out how to stop that noise before i lose my mind!
Since I have not yet purchased an Armada, this thread is causing me to have second thoughts. The Armada seems like the perfect SUV when compared to the competition. Have most of these squeaks, rattles, etc., been resolved with the 08 and 09 models?
marctronixx 04-01-2009, 08:27 PM i dont have any squeaks and rattles in my 08. the interior is much better over the 06 and earlier... i had a new 06 before i got the 08 and the 06 had one or two in the middle row... but i dont hear anything back there now in the 08...
Thanks Marc. I have researched for what seems like forever and finally decided on the Armada over the Tahoe and Sequoia. I would hate to think I am making a foolish purchase; I read the CR ratings and felt they were skewed because of the 04 era brake issues.
I love the new Tahoe but decided against it because of typical General Motors problems. I was hoping the Armada might at least come close to Toyota in quality. I could not afford the new generation Sequoia, and, thoufgt the previous generation had dated styling and a very unappealing interior design (dash and cockpit area).
One of my wife's main criteria in selecting HER next vehicle is reliability. She does not want to have to visit the dealer for annoying problems. Her Honda has her spoiled.
Do you think the Armada has the odds in its favor for reliability?
marctronixx 04-01-2009, 09:01 PM i had the 06 from 06 until 08. no issues at all. i have the 08 from december to current. no issues. i had to take it in to get the ECM flashed due to it giving the 02 sensor a false reading... that ws under warranty of course.
there is, to me, no other suv out that has what the armada has... style, class, power... the chicks dig em! :D
your wife will love the armada and will wonder how she got along in life the last couple of years driving other vehicles...
NissanArm05 07-06-2009, 02:44 PM I've noticed for some time now that I can hear a rattle/clicking noise coming from the front wheel. I took the wheel off and could turn the wheel and tried to focus on exactly where the clicking noise is coming from and it sounds like something to do with the axle where it meets the motor (not on the wheel end). What could this be? Easy fix? Cost? Suggestions?
Thanks, Corey
