Nissan is preparing to recall 48,700 trucks and SUVs for issues relating to the suspension on the U.S.-built vehicles. Some of, but not all 2010 Nissan Armada, Frontier, Titan, Pathfinder, Xterra and Infiniti QX56 models are expected to be involved in the recall. No official recall has been issued yet, however, as Nissan awaits information from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

The issue with the trucks and SUVs involves a lower suspension control link that may not have been welded properly and as a result cause the bushing collar to crack, creating a rough and noisy ride. The potential recall isn't so much a safety issue as a driveability issue and no accidents have been reported.

In the wake of the Toyota recall crisis, NHTSA has also been under increased scrutiny, issuing an alarmingly high number of recalls.

I have the recall on mine. I've noticed some issues, but haven't had a look to see if there's cracking. Will take it in soon. I notice when I am on the highway that, if I hit a bump, and not a big one either, the steering wheel bounces out of my hand if I don't have a good grip. Feels like the wheels are bouncing off the ground, gain traction, and may cause me to swerve.

UPDATE 7/23/10... The recall work replaced 3 out of 4 lower control arms.

Since then, I have taken it back 3 times as the alignment has been out, always pulling to the right. It's not fun fighting with techs that tell me it's the road, and it's normal. First time, alignment looks good on the rack, but obviously pulls. No time to go over everything, so come back later. 2nd visit, no work done as was blamed on the road. (don't ask me why the story changed on the second trip) 3rd trip, realigned front and back and tech claimed driving straight, however, no change. (How did they realign when everything was straight on the rack?) I called Nissan and opened a claim with them. Advised me to take it to a different service shop. That is scheduled for next week Tuesday. Driving today for about an hour, air pressure starts off normal on the monitors, but the front right tire must heat up faster and is 2 pounds more than the others. Will keep you all posted. 5 times the charm in Illinois before Lemon Law takes effect.

BTW - Has anyone else had this recall work performed? Curious to hear about their experience.

Finally - Took the Armada to a new dealer / service center. Confirmed the pull, checked wheel alignment specs. Rear drivers side wheel toe out of adjustment. Adjusted. All resolved as I can let go of my death grip on the wheel.
Could it be that the last service center's alignment machine be out of calibration from each visit? Also, learned that the tire pressure monitor does not tell you exactly what tire it is monitoring. However, cheap air gage is too inaccurate to get a good reading, so will get a digital gage.

The end.
Next adventure - how do I get my phone Bluetooth to stream Pandora through the radio, and the best auto TV antenna so I can hook up a digital converter box to my DVD Aux input...

Also, be aware that if you ever had your control arms replaced, no matter what year, it's the part numbers that indicate that you may be impacted. Check out the link for more info on part numbers.

you can not use the BT in the car to stream music. the bluetooth profile only supports hands free mode. use the aux port for that... :D

My 06 which I bought used I believe to be affected. I think it had a repair done sometime in its life and now has the problem parts.
