anyone getting/interested in the HTC EVO on sprint? this phone is the bees knees and the last word. im getting up and going to grab one... just seeing if anyone on here has been following the EVO...

From what I have heard it is an amazing phone but in my neck of the woods AT&T is the main carrier so I am out of luck on this one. I guess the next gen iphone will be my next phone.

I hate sprint with a passion. This days is all about cut backs. Im considering Metro PCS althought their phones suck.

I get a company phone / data plan through Verizon, plus killer discounts for personal phones through work. Unfortunately for work, I'm limited to the cheapest BBerry without a camera (we can't have cameras in our building), but for personal, I'll likely upgrade to the Droid the next time around.

I'm in line for a HTC Droid Incredible with Verizon. 4G from Sprint vs 3G from Verizon is tempting but i don't think it will make a practical difference yet. In fact one of the blogs did some testing in Baltimore (one of the few 4G implementations up and running yet) and while the HTC Evo did perform slightly better on 4G sprint than the 3G droid Incredible did, it was not a practical difference, especially considering the lack of national 4G implementation. It also sucked the battery up quite a bit faster while on 4G but could be switched to 3G only. Probably can't go wrong with either phone.


This will be my first new phone in 6 yrs - upgrading from a well used Palm 650 w/Palm OS. Didn't like anything until these new android phones started coming out.

I've got the new Droid and love it. My wife decided she wanted one as well, but she doesn't like her's all that much. doesn't like the key board, they don't work so well with longer finger nails, so she reads her emails but doesn't return them until she's at her computer (that just cracks me up!). The good part is all of our phones are all part of a Verizon data plan through her work, at a decent discount.

I have a HTC Hero, actually, that is what I am posting this with. I love this thing. I learn something new with it almost every day. The amount of free apps is amazing. I got rid of two cell phones and an aircard for this. It is more than 10x faster than my aircard while it is teathered. Wouldn't get anything else unless they came out with something considerably faster. I tried it against a blackberry before I bought it and after using both, there was no question which one I had to have. Now about half of my office has a HTC Hero.

cool CPAUL! i had the hero on launch day and it was a slick device. Android OS is really maturing and its getting better.

the EVO, if you had a chance to play with it, will BLOW the socks of any device out right now. its has a 8mp camera, can video at 720P HD, has a front facing cam, can video chat/stream to qik or skype, has HDMI out, 1ghz processor, 4.3 inch screen, can turn into a hotspot for up to 8 devices.. AND its 4g... people are dumping their broadband home data usage for this guy...

Im using the Nokia N900 and my wife has the N97. Sorry all you HTC fans but im a Nokia Frick and its the only phone that i can video call my friends around the world.

yup i can video call (and receive) from the EVO to skype folks and can also stream to qik for the world to see. the evo has as front facing cam and a back cam... i was a nokia lover in the early 90s right as digital cellular came on so i am picking up what your laying down on the nokia.. but the evo is really hard to beat... :D

I agree the Evo is a bad azz phone, depending on what apple announces tomorrow, I might have to switch to sprint come tuesday morning!

apples latest monthly release :D will sure be the biggest and best to date... it too should have a front facing cam , able to multitask without j/b, and some other goodies.... maybe enuff to keep you on board with att... :D

Have you seen the new LG android phone with the slideout keyboard? Slower processor and smaller screen than Incredible but raised physical keys on the slide (nicer than the Moto droid). My wife thinks she wants an Incredible also but I'm going to show her the LG just to be sure first. We can't get it thru work but can use the discount that Verizon gives to corporate acct employees.

if your choice is EVO vs iPhone i would say EVO. thats a monster. the iphone 4g has nothing on the EVO. iphone cant expand its memory, finally mulit task (somewhat). EVO has been rooted. unlimited customization ability. open source. Of course my choice is bias due to the fact I have a moto droid (rooted) overclocked to 1 GHZ with custom rom. check out droidforums.net or alldroid.org also.

I dont know why you guys would get an iPhone 4g. AT&T is having issue with 3G bandwidth as is. And i read somewhere they arent supporting the video conferencing ability. so the foward facing camera is pretty much useless unless your taking self portraits. The iPhone is just user friendly but the so is the android. Android OS has come a long way. Just something to think about my CA friends. ;)

Glad to see another WM fan out there, been using the Touch Diamond for a few years now. I thought I needed a physical keyboard so had a Motorola Q9h but never really used it much so got rid of it and got the Diamond.

Still debating if I should make the switch to Android but if I stay with Windows I would definitely get the HD2.

The EVO is an amazing phone, HTC is coming out with great products.

indeed hit man! the EVO is to sprint what the iphone is/was to att... finally sprint gets a nod. they have been behind the 8 ball for a while.. i love sprint (12 years and counting) and their network and they have been kind to me..

ooh.. yeah the HD2 is really close to the build of the EVO and is a great device.. but yeah man windows mobile is a great platform.. i came from palms back in the day (the kyocera 6035, samsung i300,, i330) to windows mobile and it was a bit of a learning curve but i finally got it...

android has taken over windows mobile #4 spot and is gaining to the iphony.. :D blackberry lost 2% of the market and iphon and android both gained 2%...

i wanted the physical kb since i really hate it when im in landscape mode and if i want to enter text in a text field the entire screen is covered with the keyboard. Since i installed FROYO its not the case anymore. FROYO allow you to see part of screen (section) in which you are typing in. Plus Swype has somewhat reduce my need for a physical kb now.

yes i feel you brother... the heros tiny screen prevented me form doing any real world typing on it.. but the evos screen has a bigger keyboard on screen and i have been able to type about as fast as i do on the physical keyboard... and with less typos since it auto corrects.... :D

marctronixx...do you have feed back on the EVO? The rumor on vzw is the DROID X is coming out and from what i seen its awesome looking with all its specs. I will have to wait for next week big announcement from vzw, motorola and adobe. :D

yeah i have had the EVO since launch. its quite an amazing phone. rather than sound like an ad for the device, if you have something particular you want to know let me know and ill give you my honest engine opinion/feedback. :D

I'm a huge WM fan, especially since I run Server 2008 and just upgraded to exchange 2010.

I can't wait for WinMo 7 to come out.

Well how is the HTC sense UI ? I know on the Droid incredible it was ok. Picture quality?

Pre-ordered the Iphone 4, love the 3gs, yes I know that it may not have all the bells and whistles as others, but for my use it is a fantastic phone, very easy to navigate and use. Does not have memory expansion, but I am only at about 16gb on my 32 gb phone. Don't like the lack of Flash, Job's kind of drives me nuts, but not a big deal. I think Iphone started it now others our coming out with great products and pushing each other, which we all benefit from. I personally think we have seen nothing yet compared to what these phones will doing in the future. Bottom line I have had cool phones in the past and could never figure out half the options, or they were to big of a pain to use. not a problem with the Iphone, guess that is why I like it, just turned it on and I was off and running. We are really getting spoiled, just think back to the phone you were using as little as 5 years ago. Pretty Amazing.

thaat was my first phone! it was on the ATT (bellsouth mobility) network. loved that phone! it was 75 dollars to purchase in a 2 year agreement.

then i bought this:

sense UI (had it on the hero and its on my htc touch pro2 which is a win mo 6.5) is awesome! live wallpapers, widgets, etc.. its a cool feature.

i am a windows mobile fanatic! i was turned on to win mow when sprint released the hitachi g back in 2002. they knocked it out the park then and they did it now with the first ever 4g handset in the US with front facing camera.

i still have my pro2 but its just sitting in the case not being used... :-( the evo has everything and the kitchen sink...

and 4G................................................ ............... WOWWWWWW!!
