: Looking to buy 2006 4wd
Mark80scu 06-14-2010, 06:47 PM My fiance and i are looking to buy a 2006 Armada 4wd.
i have some questions.
does the LE only come with captain chairs in the 2nd row.
what's the difference between LE and SE.
what exactly does the Tow package include?
does anyone tow horse trailers?
we found a 2006 with 67k with LE package for 25K from a nissan dealership in San Jose, CA.
any advice would be appreciated
thanks
Marco
RC340 06-14-2010, 08:09 PM Welcome to CA Mark80scu-Good luck on your future purchase, guys here will be chrime in on your questions. Would definitly road test(shimmy & brake pulsation) and have your mechanic check out . Then check into extended warranty for it.
pay attention to exhaust manifolds.... expensive to repair and famous for cracking on armadas/titan....also the power gate.
LE vs SE
LE comes in leather seats, has the tow package, power gate, fog lights, bose audio, memory seats....dont recall anything else.....
the tow package comes with the receiver, air leveling suspension, tow ratio gears, double radiator, prewired for brake controler, pulls 9100lbs and 400 or 500lbs on tongue
LE seats comes on both versions bench or capitan
IMO seems a bit pricey .....
Scorpion 06-14-2010, 09:29 PM welcome to the club Mark80scu. Where are you from?
scr38 06-15-2010, 12:28 AM No difference in radiators on any Armada, Tow package ratio is 3.36, 900 pounds max tongue weight.

I did alot of research and looking. If you are patient, try and find a 2008 and above. The interior is alot nicer and couldnt be happier. I was also looking for an 06 or 07 because my budget was low 20's but I wound up finding an 08 SE loaded advertised at $27 and I chewed them down to $23,250 with 50k. Now I havent seen many sell that low but it all depends on what they took it in on trade.
My SE has the bose, power lift gate, center LCD screen, fog lights, power pedals, tow package, etc... The 08's and up SE's came with more features standard than the lesser years.
9balllrook 06-15-2010, 12:04 PM Welcome to the Club!! Another choice might be an XE off road, it too comes with leather and the tow package and a few other goodies!!
you might want to try carmax in you're search:

Mark80scu 06-15-2010, 02:22 PM what's the easiest way to tell if it has the tow package?
i guess the LE comes with it, what about the SE.
i heard about the temp gauge in the instrument cluster? is there a picture so that i can realize which one it is?
i also heard 2008 are nicer inside that 2006-07, is it worth the extra cost?
how many miles do you think the car will last if taken care? over 150k? close to 200K?
thanks
Marco
stevejr 06-15-2010, 06:32 PM If you look under the truck,at the rear driver side next to the spare, you should see an air compressor. Thats how you can tell without a doubt if it has the tow package. As far as how many miles it will last. It all depents on maintenance. My first nissan hardbody(86 1/2) i put 336,XXX miles before i sold it. My second Nissan a 2000 frontier crew cab, had 221,XXX when i sold it. Im expecting my 2006 Qx-56 with 70,XXX miles to run for at least 200,XXX +++++.

In my opinion the 08's are definately worth the extra cost. I thought I liked the 06/07 then I drove an 08. Definately a big difference. The 08 and up all have an LCD NAV screen up front regardless if it has nav or not. The non-nav models basically have all the thermo controls displayed, gas mileage computer, maintenance, CD text recognotion, and much more. Almost all of them have a factory reverse camera which is awesome. Another great feature of the 08 and ups are the new gauges. Much much nicer read out and not such an odd color orange at night. some 08's also have front sensors (my SE does) in addition to the standard rear. The rear bumper is color matched. Powerlift tailgate.
If you plan on putting alot of miles on it, spend the extra money and get the 08. You will be kicking yourself for not getting the "newer" interior. That was my mistake when I bought my OBS Suburban, I hated that the newer ones had a nicer interior so I sold it and bought my Armada, go figure.

rockendoublez 06-16-2010, 01:42 AM If you pick up a that one from steven's creek, I say get the extended warranty, most of the guys on here will agree that is money well spent.
LE comes standard with the tow package.
SE it's an option, best way is to check the door jam sticker for the total towing capacity or just look for the aircompressor under the driver side rear.
2008's+ IMHO do have a nicer interior and some minor exterior trim, but also makes it harder to upgrade the audio system, if that's something you wanted to pursue.
tnmedic 06-23-2010, 08:23 PM As an owner of the model you're asking about, I would recommend that model with some notes:
As other posters have mentioned, check the brakes. 04-06 models had brake recalls. Basically the front rotors are factory installed Altima models (Obviously too small for the vehicle)per my non-dealer mechanic buddy. SE off-road pkg has cloth seats, split 3 ways in second row, 60/40 in 3rd row. Interior plastic is WEAK. I don't haul lumber or junk, but the interior plastic especially in cargo/3rd row area is very easily scratched. I agree, the quoted price is a little too much.
I have 63K on mine, fixing to have front brakes looked at again. Repeat of the same judder that was fixed initially by the recall. Expect to have additional brake maintenance on the 06 model if you keep the OEM rotors.
I don't tow anything so cannot advise about towing horse trailers.:D
