: HIDs don't work on startup

I have an 06' Armada and recently bought HIDs from DDM Tunning. When I turn on the ignition and turn the lights on using auto or regular headlight setting the lights will flicker and then turn off. If I turn then off/on a couple of times they will stay on. I read on their troubleshooting section of their website that some vehicles require wiring harness. I tried searching the forum but couldn't find any mention of anyone needing a wiring harness. Has anyone else had this issue? If so, what is a good harness to buy? Below is the article from the DDM Tuning website.

Thanks in advance,
Ray

I think you have bad ballast, just my IMO.

If all the connections check out, then those are signs of the ballasts on their way out.

And if you went with a 55W kit, then save yourself from a possible expensive repair and buy a relayed wiring harness. These 55W kits only produce more glare in reflector headlights and doesn't improve output at all; and without a relayed wiring harness, you increase the chances of burning out the OEM electrical wiring harness along with the interior of the headlight housing.

I bought the 35W kit and have been having this problem since I installed it on both lights. I must just have got a bad set of ballast if no one else has needed to get a wiring harness with a 35W set. I'll see if they will send me a new set after I re-check that all the connections are on correctly.

DDMTUNING is pretty good about their warranty. give them a call and I'm sure they'll swap out your ballasts.

you may need a relay if its pulling too much voltage?

also do the ballasts BUZZZZZZZ when you turn them on? do they BUZZ even though the HIDs dont strike?
