: Wheel Skins
Roller11 07-16-2010, 11:10 AM Looking for opinions on these:

On the Titan Forum no one like them, but say they can't tell the difference with-out close checking. I'm thinking about bringing some to the DC Meet for everyone to check out.
trueblue01gt 07-22-2010, 01:31 PM thought about getting some and if i didnt like the chrome paint them black. ide rather paint these black than my rims
marctronixx 07-22-2010, 03:56 PM plated ABS plastic? nooooooooooo roller... :D
Campfamily 07-22-2010, 05:14 PM My brother has a company van (Chrysler Grand Caravan) with chrome clad wheels, they actually don't look too bad. They look like chrome wheels until you get close. A lot cheaper to replace after a curb hit, as well!

Mikey T 07-22-2010, 05:38 PM Don't get them!! I tried them on my 05' Armada and they scratch the rims up plus I couldn't get them all the way on. Would not click on.
^^^^ Typical fleaBay junk!!! ^^^^
Roller11 07-23-2010, 10:57 AM Guess I will wait for these,

9balllrook 07-23-2010, 11:22 AM These are the Ultra's I have, sorry for bad news.. they're discontinued.
Roller11 07-23-2010, 11:32 AM Your truck looks great. There are some on E-Bay but they may be gone by time I have the money. I like them!
marctronixx 07-23-2010, 04:25 PM now your talkin' roller! :D
sidgarza 09-18-2010, 06:47 PM I just purchased some today. I'm not a fan of chrome so I'm going to scuff the heck out of them and throw on some bedliner. My wheels are charcoal and like the color but also I want black without having paint my wheels. I figured why not they're only $60. They don't seem too bad.
sidgarza 09-29-2010, 09:50 PM Here they are...I haven't put them on yet because I am going to through on a few more coats..I had them out to cure and someone threw them back into the box and left some blemishes in the paint.
primoV8 10-05-2010, 10:28 PM Do they overlap the outer lip of the OEM rims? Or will you be able to see both, the OEM rim and cover where they meet with the tires?
I like the idea of painting them black, since they're not an expensive and time consuming mod.
sidgarza- please post pics once you get them on.
sidgarza 10-05-2010, 10:56 PM Actually you hit the nail on the head...you can see both the rim and the cap where the lip meet...sux. i'll post photos tomorrow, i haven't had a chance to because my better half has been hogging it. I wouldn't recommend this mod unless you are willing to paint the lip but then it defeats the purpose of avoiding paint the rim in the first place.
primoV8 10-05-2010, 11:04 PM Appreciate the feedback. I figured that might be the case with these wheel covers. Surprisingly, the 2011 platinum armada comes with chrome-clad wheels so that would be disappointing to see if they were similar considering they name their flagship suv with a "platinum" nameplate, but with sterling silver quality wheel covers.
phillip 10-06-2010, 09:39 AM We have the chrome-clad wheels on our 2010 Platinum. Hopefully they will stand up to the test of time -- they do look nice right now. The drive-thru carwash I use puts tire dressing on, but some of it gets on the wheels and it's a little bit greasy. Have to think about that one....
marctronixx 10-06-2010, 11:59 AM off topic...
yeah the 3 minute car wash thing that puts on the tire dressing is prettty cool! i used one for the first time a couple years ago on my 2006 i used to have and i was just amazed.. LOL..
sidgarza 10-06-2010, 07:02 PM Here are the pics...its more noticeable in person.
